Many other businesses in the Valley have also expressed interest in participating, with special events geared towards children. Some possibilities are golf camps, tennis clinics, hiking clubs, swimming groups, pottery, and art classes. Old Fire House currently offers Kindermusik, computer classes, private tutoring, and many more upcoming surprises. “We are offering these activities to all children, whether they are residents, or to children just visiting our Valley,” states Becky Daugaard, owner of Old Fire House. Taylee Lundin of Wolf Creek states, “We look forward to working with Old Fire House Child Care, and are anxious to create a family environment with fun activities for everyone to enjoy.” Whether your family lives in the Valley or is just visiting, you would have to admit, it’s a beautiful place to be. Our children and families have an array of activities to choose from year round. Now local businesses are networking together to offer these opportunities to everyone. “It is so hard for parents to get their children to various activities, especially when they have more than one child. Many children have different interests. Now with so many different activities to choose from, families will be sure to find something for everyone. Other difficulties families encounter are what to do with younger siblings while older children participate in other activities. Old Fire House offers drop in care (as space permits), and preschools and day care activities daily. Old Fire House is open seven days a week, with discounts for Valley residents for weekend care. Weekend and drop in care is by reservation only. Transportation to and from these activities may be available if your child is enrolled at Old Fire House. For more information, call Taylee Lundin from Wolf Creek Resort at 745-3737, extension 117; or Chris and Becky Daugaard from Old Fire House Child Care at 745-5600. Superintendent of Wolf Creek Resort, has announced that the cross-country track has been open since early January. “We wanted to get the track set in time for Christmas, but as everyone recalls, we had so much snow during the holidays that we were unable to groom the track. Now the track is in awesome shape.” Groomed cross-country tracks at Wolf Creek Resort are open to the public. Photo courtesy of David Fantle. Thomas cautions users to please stay on the track. “It’s helpful if folks remember that there’s a golf course out there under all that snow, and improper traffic can really damage the fairways. I’ve carefully mapped out the track so the course won’t be damaged, and would really appreciate folks staying on that track.” Use of the track is free to the public, and parking is available at the Wolf Creek Resort clubhouse, which is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The track starts just west of the clubhouse. Equipment can be rented at the Marketplace in the lower level of the clubhouse. Rental rates are $8.50 per day for adults and $6.50 for kids under 18.
