Show Growers Will Organize Plans for the formation of a state wide organization of fruit giowers, for the purpose of creating and handling a market fur the fruit output out-put of this 8:ate, were given definite shape on the 20th of Feb. by a com mittee of six fruit men or Utah, representing rep-resenting the total committee of 28 appointed at the recent convention of the horticulturists at Ogden. The committee met in the office of Scy. J. Edward Taylor of the slate horticultural horti-cultural commission yesterday afternoon, after-noon, and its report will be submitted submit-ted to the general committee at a meeting to' be aypoinu-d in the near future. In order to be certain of a market, even though an over production exists, the committee propuses the erection of a cannery, which can take care of the fruit both at the time of low prices and wiien a market cannot be found. The methods of marketing the fruit during the fr.uk season were not outlined, but are being taken up at a meeting this afternoon. After the committee of six has completed its outlines they will be submitted to the general committee. Outside capital would seek a return of investment, in-vestment, and therefore would have a tendency to purchase ihe Utah product at a low price and sell at a profit. The committees consists of Dr. Charles G. Plummer, W. H. Hom-fcr, Hom-fcr, Jr., H. H. Thompson, L. A. rJah, J. W. Valentine and G. VV. Pa.mei, with J. Edward Taylor as sectary. Deseret News. |
