Show COMPANY G Of THE MAI GUARD OF " UTAH ARRANGED FOR GAIA DAY M EPtlRA'M Governor William Spry and Staff and Other Distinguished Distin-guished Visitors From Salt Lake and Utah Counties, Coun-ties, and Officers of Company D Were Guests cf Honor. N Saturday, Feb. 22nd, was a great day at Ephraim participated participat-ed in by people from towns all the way from Salt Lake City to Richfield. Company G of the National Guards cf Utah was responsible for the affair. The celebration was given in honor of Gov. Wm. Spry and Staff from Salt Lake City. .Being 'a military affair it was expected that all militiamen be in full-dress full-dress uniform. The youiig people of Ephraim, who had assembled-at the depot to do honor to the 'governor and his staff, were greatly disappointed upon the arrival of the train to see the governor's gover-nor's staff come to town dressed in civilian's clothes. They, the young folks, were out enmasse to welcome the distinguished visitors and wanted want-ed to see them appear in full Regalia. Not knowing the staff personally, some of the young fellows eager to greet members of the staff, began cheering a two hundred pound drummer drum-mer who got off the train and pre-ceeded pre-ceeded the Governor down the platform. plat-form. Nearly all the boys of Company Com-pany D, who went to Ephraim were in full dress uniform. Governor Wm. Spry and Staff were the guests of honor of Company Compa-ny G and the day opened with a Pa-t Pa-t iatic meeting at the Snow Academy Acad-emy ac which the Gov?rnor, Adjutant-General E. A. VVedgewood, Prof. Jensen, of the Snow 'Academy and Captain Fred Jorgensen of Com- pany G were the principal speakers. The musical numbers given at this meeting were high-class and well rendered. This was followed by a supberb banquet at the Snow Academy building where numerous toasts were responded to by Gov. Spry, Adj. Gen. E. A. Wedgewood, Pror. A. C. Lund. Prof. John T. Hand rendered a beautiful tenor solo. An excellent concert was given at the Academy huihling commencing at S o'clock p. m., participated in by the Snow Academy Music Department, Depart-ment, Prof. John T. Hand, Prof. A. C. Lund, with Miss Smi'h an accompanist ac-companist and soloist from Provo, taking prominent parts. Trie day ended with a Grand Military Mili-tary Ball at the New Armory which was participated in by the Governor and Staff, Company G of Ephraim, with a good sprinkling of the boys of Company D of Mt. Pleasant and also Company F. of Manti. Gov. Wm. Spry lead the Grand March and the dance went on gaily until 12 o'c'ock, when all retired to their places of abode feeling that they were crossing cross-ing one of the bright spots of this life's activities. Those of Company D who went to Ephraim were Capt. Thos. Brady, First Lieutenant J. M. Boyden, Second Sec-ond Lieutenant George Christensen, First Sergeant Wm. Hansen, Private Orson Braby and Burke McArthur. , Taken all in all the day was an unbounded un-bounded success and Company G has the congratulations of all who were received as guests of the day. |
