Five Milford Residents in Barbering Barbers come from all walks I o of life usually life usually But not so at Utah Technical I c cal l College where five students I Ii i enrolled in the colleges college's barbering barbering barbering barber barber- ing department All from Milford I Fifteen students enrolled in Septembers September's rush for instructor Martin Knuteson's barbering class three Thirty-three percent were vere from that southwestern railroad exchange town in the corner of the state And Milford's population of 1471 isn't likely to support five full time barbers Ironically each of the five new Utah Tech students plans on a af f full time career Realistically they cant can't plan on returning to that exciting crossroad of the west that is apparently a good place to raise barbers Consequently each student plans to work in a shop outside Milford with California ornia Nevada Idaho and Northern Utah the sites named most frequently The five agree Milford barbers are good They agree too that thata a population explosion in that southwestern part of the state isn't likely between now and the time they finish school in June The five students four from Milford High Schools School's class of j 67 are doing their studying in I Salt Lake City while attending I I eight hour eight hour a day C class day Each admits there is an adjustment adjustment ad ad- for a small town boy boyto to make but each assures the theother theother theother other that the adjustment has been made Each is potentially a good barber r reports e p o 0 r t s instructor Knuteson Knuteson was vas talking of 27 year-old year Jack Gilliam and the four Class of 67 Milford High graduates Kent Gillins John Kirk Vern Erickson and Grant Wadsworth all all 18 year olds Gilliam prepped in Stillwater Oklahoma before coming to Mil Mil- ford He is married He and his wife v e Adele have two vo sons Kevin 2 and Kelly 3 I felt it was vas time to get back to school Gilliam said while doing one of his many daily hair hair- cuts Gillins whose hobby it is to hunt and fish plans to open his shop outside of Utah I feel there is more need elsewhere elsewhere elsewhere else else- where he elaborated Between his hunting and fishing he finds time tune to tinker with his auto auto- mobile Kirk is the fussy one of the man five-man group I want vant to go to Nevada Idaho or Oregon says the former Tiger football star i The musical talent of the quintet is Erickson
