During a contest con-test which continued from o'clock last night until nearly v4 o'clock this morning, morn-ing, marked at times by bitter recriminations, recrimi-nations, . but" concluding with mutual pledges of support, the-control. of the New Tork county Republican organisation organisa-tion was Wrenched from the control of former Gov. Odell by. the faction headed head-ed by Herbert Parsons. ' In reorganizing for the coming year the committee elected Herbert Parsons to the presidency in succession to Wll- -ilam Halpln and chose other officers named by Parsons' friends. ; The officers offi-cers elected are: . . ' New Officers Chosen. Clialrman, Herbert' Parso'hs. . First vice-president. Senator .Alfred P.. Page. . ' Second vice-president, Julius O. Kramer Kra-mer of the Fourth Assembly district. Xkted by Ar?OxbjiUjn. ; The election of Mr. Parsons was se-sured se-sured at 2:35 o'clock this morning. It was mad by acclamation and was received re-ceived with wild enthusiasm. Mr. Hal-pin Hal-pin Immediately congratulated' Mr. Parsons p.nd in a brief speech promised him his hearty support. Mr. Parsons replied, thahkmg the eommltti? for his election. Mr. Page wa3 chosen first vice-presi- dent after a lively fight in which he defeated de-feated Samuel Strasbourger by a vote of 330 to 240. Mr. -Stn.rbourgcr voted to make the election. unanimous, and this was done. . The other officers were hosen unanimously by acclamation. Tactics of Delay. Tactics of delay were adopted by the Odell faction as the committee met, and these continued for sevtral hours. It is said that the motive for delay was to await, the result of the Speakership fight. Mr. Parsons and his friends did not propose to wait and announced their intention of organizing a committee commit-tee if it took all night. The first test vote came Just before midnight on a motion to adjourn the election of a president until January 4. The Parsons men won by a vote of 822 to 22S. A motion made by Mr. Parsons to. adjourn for thirty. minutes to hear the contested election case in the Thirteenth Thir-teenth district w.is.tarrwd. . Odell Scheme Defeated. The contestant, Michael H.1 Blake, is , an-Odell mas, and his' friends Id the committee moved to poctpone consideration consider-ation of the contest, but were defeated Shortly after 1 o'clock the committee reconvened and received a majority and minority reports of the committee on contested seats. The Parsons' raen immediately moved that the report be tabled. Voting on the motion , lasted for" an hour and resulted in a victory for the Pareons faction, the vote standing stand-ing 322 to 281. This matter disposed of, nominations were in order and prompt- , ly followed. |
