Heavily Loaded Barge Swamped and Men Thrown Into River. New York. There was given out from the battleship New Hampshire Sunday night a list of twenty-ninmen who were supposed to have perished by the swamping of a barge which was being towed to the vessel at anchor in the Hudson river Saturday night. Appended to this list are the names of eleven men who are sun absent, but who were not recognized as having been in the swamped boat. Various versions of how the accident occurred are in circulation.
