Parker of New York was chosen on Monday as the candidate for temporary chairman of the Democratic convention by the national na-tional committee. He received 31 votes, Senator-elect James Ollie ol Kentucky 20, and Senator O'Gorman of New York 2. Thus all hope of averting a fight from the fall of the gavel in the Democratic national convention con-vention vanished. Mr. Bryan announced that if no other good progressive could be prevailed pre-vailed upon to make the race, he would enter the field himself, as the opponent of Parker.
