His farewell address was held January 14th at the Liberty 2nd Ward. Elder Thomas F. Doxey, son of Dr. Tom and Renae Doxey of Eden, will serve in the Mexico Guadalajara Mission. His farewell address was held January 21st at the Eden 1st Ward. Elder Ryan Toponce, son of Sharon Strickland of Eden, will be leaving on February 7th to serve in the Argentina, Cordoba Mission. His farewell was held January 28th at the Liberty III Ward Chapel. Births John Frederick and Nydia Felix Mackey of Eden had a baby girl on December 28. Darrin and Jennifer Thurston of Liberty had a baby girl on January 10. Weddings Evans-Weaver Exchanging nuptial vows Friday, January 19, in the Bountiful LDS Temple were the former Brooke Evans and Bryce Weaver. The bride is a daughter of Wes Evans and DeNise DeMille of West Point. Parents of the bridegroom are Mike and Ilene Weaver of Liberty. A reception at the West Point LDS Stake Center was held afterward. The new Mr. and Mrs. Weaver will live in West Point. He is a foreman in construction, and she is employed with Smith’s Warehouse. The bride graduated from Layton High School, and the bridegroom is a graduate of Bonneville High School. Anniversaries Wangsgard Owen and Edythe Wangsgard celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Sunday, January 28. They were married January 28, 1931, in Salt Lake City. Both were raised in Ogden and have been lifetime residents. His parents were Mary and Peter C. Wangsgard of Huntsville. Her parents were William and Jeanne Jack, who settled here from Scotland. He is the former owner of Wangsgard’s Market at Five Points, which his parents started in 1920. They have two daughters, Wendy Wangsgard, San Diego; and Larry and Gayle Bryan, Newport Beach, California. Obituaries Nellie Afton Weaver Newey HUNTSVILLE - Nellie Newey, 91, of Huntsville, passed away January 5, 2001 of causes incident to age. Nellie was born January 26, 1909 in Ogden, Utah to Theodore H. Weaver and Ellen Unsworth. On February 18, 1936 she married E. Dale Newey in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for over 50 years and ran a dairy farm in Huntsville. Nellie grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School. After which she worked for First Security Bank for ten years. When she married she moved to Huntsville and always considered it her home. She was very involved in the community, working for a time as the Postmaster. She served as a 4-H leader and as a member of the county 4-H council. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and the Daughters of the Valley. Loving history she served as an official town historian and was always trying to collect the stories of the town’s early founders. She was an active member of the LDS church and served in many capacities—as primary and Young Women’s President and, for most of her life, in the Relief Society as the homemaking counselor, and on the Ogden Stake Relief Society Board. She enjoyed gardening, rock collecting and doll making. Many of her friends and family received gifts crafted through her talents. Nellie is survived by her son, Dale W. Newey of Huntsville; two daughters, Nancy Jo Blair of Orem, Utah; Marcia (Tony) Lono of Bridgeport, West Virginia; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters; Marjorie (Reed) Henderson and Beverly (Johnny) Johnson, both of Ogden. She was preceded in death by her husband, and a granddaughter, Tammy Blair. Interment, Huntsville Cemetery. Mary K. Norman OGDEN CANYON - Our loved daughter, wife, mother, friend and neighbor, passed away January 17, 2001, due to a Brain Anurism and after complications due to a liver transplant. She spent her younger years in Panquich, Utah, where she was Rodeo Queen and very active in her community. There she met and married John F. Chidester, on August 19, 1961. They moved to West Jordan where they raised their three children until John’s passing on March 25, 1980. She lived an adventurous life, where she drove a truck for several years. Mary had hundreds of logged hours all accident-free. During this time she met Micheal C. Norman, whom she later married on July 4, 1991, and his four daughters. Mary is survived by her husband Micheal C. Norman; parents Keith O. Henrie and Rosemond Henrie; brothers John M. Henrie, and Jack Norton; children Jacqueline (Russell) Rodgers, John Kelley (Leiann) Chidester, James Keith (Clyde) Chidester, Nicole HansenNorman, Shelley Norman, and Heidi Norman; grandchildren Jeffrey John Gurske, Shanna Lee Gurske, Brianna Nicole Chidester, Makayla Chidester, Tyler Mayo, and Hanna Ercanbrack. She is preceded in death by John F. Chidester and Jerry Holmes. Funeral Directors: Valley View Funeral Home. Marie C. Madsen OGDEN — Marie Catherine Clarke Madsen, 95, died Friday, January 19, 2001 at a local care center. She was born December 4, 1905 in Ogden, a daughter of Christian and Marie Bosschieter Bouwhuis. On September 23, 1931, Marie married Ray F. Clarke in Kanesville. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Ray died February 10, 1970. Marie married Horace Madsen on November 27, 1971 in Ogden. Horace preceded her in death on December 27, 1994. She was reared and educated in Ogden. Marie was a member of the LDS Church and had served as a Sunday School, Primary and Relief Society Teacher, and also on the Stake Primary Board. During her early years, she worked at Troy Laundry. She later worked for the Handicapped School of Ogden. Marie enjoyed crocheting, making quilts and sewing. Surviving are one son and one daughter, Melvin (Joan) Clarke, Eden; Marilyn Clarke, Ogden; four grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Marie is also survived by two brothers and one sister; Ernest Bouwhuis, Roy; Paul Bouwhuis, and Eva Holiday, both of West Haven. Preceding her in death were one great-grandchild and four brothers. Interment, Eden Mountain View Cemetery. Monty L. Willard LIBERTY — Monty Lloyd Willard, 43, died Sunday, January 21, 2001 at McKay-Dee Hospital from complications of diabetes. He was born November 7, 1957 in Ogden, a son of Lloyd and Verena Allred Willard. Monty married Susan Anderson. They were later divorced. He married Lisa A. Kolata on January 10, 1980 in Elko, Nevada. He worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator and later as an industrial mechanic at D.D.O. Monty was a cowboy and enjoyed attending rodeos. He also enjoyed hunting, horses, dogs and being outdoors. Surviving are his wife Lisa; sons, Casey Lloyd Willard and Christopher Paul Willard, all of Liberty; Justin Monty Willard, Salt Lake City; and one grandson. Monty is also survived by his parents of Liberty; two brothers and two sisters, James Lonnie (Carol) Willard, St. George; J. Scott (Ranae) Willard, Willard; Sharon (Frank) Southwick, Liberty; and Sheila Gibson, Riverdale. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Interment, Liberty Cemetery. Adriana J. Aldous Adriana Janse Aldous was born in Middelburg, Holland on December 10, 1900 to Pieter and Geertje de Voogd Janse. The family joined the LDS Church and came to America in 1916 and settled in Huntsville, Utah. She married Horace Aldous on May 14, 1924 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Huntsville all of their married life. He died June 20, 1963 while they visiting relatives in Holland. Adriana then moved to Ogden and spent most of her time doing genealogy. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints and served in many of its organizations. She moved to Provo 12 years ago and lived in Cove Point where she made many friends. Two years ago she moved to Mountain Air Assisted Living in Payson. We want to thank Pat Huff and all of the staff there for the kind and excellent care that they gave her. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday. She is survived by her son Robert (Mae) Aldous of Burlington, North Carolina; her daughter Ruth Johansen (Franz,) of Provo; 11 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and three greatgreat grand children. She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. Interment, Huntsville Cemetery under the direction of Walker Mortuary in Payson. Marie Wahlin Taylor HUNTSVILLE – Marie Wahlin Taylor, 77, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2001, at home in Huntsville, Utah, of cancer. Marie resided in Huntsville for nine years, and was a former resident of Sandy, Utah, and Phoeniz, Arizona.Marie is revered by all who knew her for she was without guile. A gentle, loving, sensitive woman, she was a peacemaker and confidant to many. She provided support and guidance to her husband and family and passed on to her posterity a heritage of strength, love and deep commitment to the LDS faith. She completed her life polished, and perfected.She was born in Miami, Arizona, April 21, 1923, to Peter A. and Burnetta Wahlin. She married C. Dewey Taylor, June 26, 1941, in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple.Marie was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served in ward and stake positions in the Relief Society and MIA. She also served in the Mesa and Jordan River Temples and, with her husband, served a mission in the Dallas, Texas Temple.Surviving are her husband Dewey; 5 daughters, Judy (Jerry) Allred of Sandy; JoAnn (James) Greene of Rexburg, Idaho; Carla (Austin) Horn and Debbie Granieri of S. Jordan; and Peggy Taylor of Mesa, Arizona; 21 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 3 brothers—Miles Wahlin of Dewey, Arizona; Marvin Wahlin of Pinetop, Arizona; and Danny Wahlin of Lakeside, Arizona; and 3 sisters—Emily Hill of Rexburg, Idaho; Bertha Main of Phoenix, Arizona; and Sue Riggs of Mesa, Arizona.
