Show Emery County Progress Castle Dale Utah - Tuesday November 10 1998 Cub Scouts hold 1998 Leadership Pow Wow The 1998 Cub Leader Pow Wow for the Buckhorn and Carbon Districts was held and Canyon View Junior High last Saturday Scout leaders were saturated with new ideas to make the scouting experi- ence more meaningful and enjoyable for our youth. Classes were held which helped leaders to understand the organization and purpose of the scouting program. Other topics included a discussion on good ways to make sure each boy gets proper recognition for his scouting accomplishments. The theme of the Pow Wow was Pirates and was quite a spectacle as adult leaders, even without any boys present, donned pirate hats and headbands and put on quite a show. The Morale Team consisting of Reed Martin, Bart Cox, Ron Taylor and Mark Farr keep things lively with loud bangs, plenty of pirate jargon and prizes for just about everyone. Pow Wow organizers are hoping that the event will boost enthusiasm and help to generate ideas for local cub scout leaders. cub scout cheers such as the politician cheer Leaders learned more slap-stic- k in which one pats oneself on the back as says, Good Job. They also learned ways for boys to welcome new cubs and leaders to the den as pictured here. Lisa Parr was captain of the ship, barking orders and keeping things on course. Ron Taylor, Mark Parr and Bart Cox of the Morale team give out treasure during one of the leadership sessions. This perpetual water machine, demonstrated by Bart Cox, provides an entertaining way to teach scouts about air and water pressure and how a siphon works.
