Emery didn't let this go unanswered, putting together a drive which ended w ith a touchdown pass from quarterback Ben Luce to wide receiver Brad Stilson. Emery's PAT was also no good, so the score was tied at Uintah's next drive ended with an interception by Stilson on the two yardline. Emery couldnt drive the ball out of the red zone and was forced to punt. However. Uintah has other plans in mind, blocking the punt and forcing a safety'. This gave Uintah two points and an 6 lead while getting the ball back. hey wasted little tune in scoring again as it took only three plays to get to the end conzone. This time they tried a version. but were unsuccessful. Uintah had the first score of the second half w ith 7'08 left in the third period although the PAT was no good. Emery failed to answer back, and Uintah scored again with 2:08 left in the third period. The game ended at 42-2- 0 for Uintah as the Spartan season came to an end. Emery finished with a 6 overall record, a third place finish in the region, and a great win over Morgan in the first round of the playoffs. I h I think that you can be more fair. I think that you can criticize more fairly and onlv alter having checked your facts. I have seen you do a great job before. You can do it again. I really think you can But what do I know It's just the opinion of a little "cheerleader'' Well. I've now said what is on my mind and on the minds ol many others. Meanwhile, back on the positive side of things, the Emery High Student Council is preparing lor our annual food drive. In the past we have collected in excess of seven tons ol lood for the needy of Emery' County, and we hope to be able to beat that record this yeai We'll give you more information on that in the coming weeks The Emery I Iigh Student Council and the Emery I Iigh volleyball team hosted a volleyball night on Wednesday. Nov and we were amazed when the sophomores won the whole tournament The girls were amazing, and none ol the bovs got hurl too budlv. It was a co-e- d 4. It was a lot ol fun. success Coach Martinezgaveoutavvards to the volleyball team members between each game, and the team held a dinner afterwards The only real casualty was when Neal Peaeok tried to play volleyball for the student council team, and we almost lost a couple of people in the crowd due to excessive laughter The Emery f TA is headed to Kansas City. If you remember last year, Emery placed first in the nation in agriculture issues. Could this be the year to repeat? I'm putting mv money on them. 5-- BATTLE AT THE NET: here are 23 students on the staff, including sophomores, juniors and seniors who meet each day for eai lx bird. When asked about the staff this year, Carla said. It's like one big family Everyone jokes and messes around." Larry Davis, yeaibook advisor said of the staff, "We have a good mixture of veteran and new people on the staff this year. Everyone seems to be enthusiastic about getting the yearbook done Regarding the Mr. book. the Davis said, of completion We're woiking on the lust deadline right now which is about 60 pages. Yearbook staff takes on biggest project ever By Dear Mr. Arrington: I don't w ant you to be a checrleader-- black and gold probably doesn't look that good on you But more important, all I want you to do is exactly what you said you were trying to d- o- BE FAIR. I don't think that your article or announcing has to be slanted for Emery High, but it shouldn't be slanted against it either. That was my complaint. You showed the negative and ignored the positive. Is that fair? And does saying something positive automatically make me a cheerleader? You also said that you try to "criticize the deed and not the players. but when you attacked the golf team you called the golfers dishonest, and then gave an no proof There was NO deed-j- ust accusatio- n- and you criticized the playersOOPSIE. And when you said the coach should keep more freshmen and sophomores and w here 3 of the 26 players were sophomores or freshme- n- were ou criticizing the deed, or the coach? OOPSIE 2. checked my facts before I wrote my article. And I would expect a person with his own column to do the same. But. you didn't call the coach to get the other side of the story before throwing out accusations, did you'7 You didn't apologize when you blew it. did you? Help me to understand how you were fair? When you slammed the football team, you were entirely within your editorial rights just as I am within my editorial rights to disapprove of the things you sav I just felt that someone trying to be fair would also comment on the I positive and not just the negative. must give you some credit. Since myself and Kattie have cnticized y ou. y ou have been more positive and fair. But vou also said that you take the news and enhance it with vour opinion. You certainly give your opinion, but vour d view s don't enhance anything. I can gave an opinion too. and I guess mine is as valid as yours. I think that my opinion represents most of the students at Emery I Iig- h- those people that I represent as student body reporterhistorian I leidi Richaids. Yearbooks are on sale at the Emery High School office. 1 he cost for the book is $35. Students who want to buy the yearbook deluxe package at $50, with the namestamping, dust cover and CD, must order by Thanksgiving. A $10 deposit will reserve a book for any student. Books will be handed out in May. I think students will really like the book when they get it," Mr Davis said. "It will be the last book of this century, so that alone should make the book very valuable. Laura Blackwell Jill Yost The daughter of David and Natalie Blackwell of Ferron, Laura Black-we- ll has participated in drama, drill team, cheerleadmg, and is presently a member of the student council at Emery High w here she serves at the student body reporter historian. Laura, who was a member of the sophomore class social committee, loves English, drama, Shakespeare, mythology and novels at school while her hobbies include ballet, playing the piano and singing. After graduating this spring, Laura plans on attending UVSC or SUU to major in Jill is the daughter of Kendal and Paula Yost of Ferron. She is currently serving as the Emery High student council secretary, and she also serves at the on the Youth co-cha- ir Committee of the Terron Youth Coun- cil. She enjoys hanging with my family and friends. She likes to ski, mountain climb and roller skate. After graduating this spring, Jill would like to attend Ricks College where she will go into business. She says at Ricks, she hopes to find a husband ASAP!. English.
