The girls are mostly sophomores and haven't won many games this year, but they are improving. By the end of the game, the Lady Devils had buried the Lady Redmen with a final score of 55-33. The Cedar City team looked like they might give Springville a challenge after the first quarter quar-ter of play, but the Lady Devils Dev-ils came back, never relcn-quishing relcn-quishing a 15-point lead the rest of the game. Leading the Devils scoring was Mary Ellen Stover with 14 points. Stacy MacArthur with 1 3 points and Tara Houtz, with 12 points, were not far behind. The girls met their region rival Spanish Fork at home Tuesday and will travel to St. Anofher Region 8 win Holding off a late Cedar City rally, the Red Devils beat , the Redmen 53-49 in Region 8 play Friday. Six of those nine misses came Junior John Penrod is the SHS Basketball Player of the Week. He is the son of John and Ann Penrod and grandson of Beth Davis, Thelma Harmer and Verda Davis. His favorite subject sub-ject is Seminary. He maintains a 3.9 GPA and hopes to attend BYU: He plays baseball and football and was on the Allstate All-state 1st Team this year. Junior center Kelly Thorpe is the SHS Basketball Spotlight Player of the Week. He is the son of Richard and Chris Thorpe and grandson of Noma Thorpe and Leah Crandall. Kelly's favorite class at SHS is Cabinetry. He plans to attend the University of Utah. Kelly also plays football and baseball. base-ball. His hobbies include playing play-ing sports and hunting. Wheiler supports all the activities at the high school and videotapes whats going on, edits it and it goes over the TV for all the sutdents to see.
