Jensen Woman Charged Burned Saving Belongings 93-Year-- Old With Child Abuse Gladys L. Evans, 93, was flown to the Intermountain Burn Care Center with injuries she suffered in a Thursday fire that destroyed her Brush Creek home. Mrs. Evans was injured while she, her son Martin and his wife tried to carry belongings from the burning building. Mrs. Evans suffered a broken bone in her leg and burns to her back, arms and legs. As of Monday, Mrs. Evans was listed in critical condition. . Two Men Arrested in Car Theft Cases - Police arrested Morris G. Forward, 24, and Chris Linder, 22, Thursday in connection with many vehicle burglaries in the Vernal area over the past couple months. Police undercover agents purchased from the suspects a video recorder and .camera which allegdedly was stolen from a pick-u- p the night before. Police investigators have since searched their residence and found various car stereos and firearms that have been reported stolen. Both men have been charged with receiving stolen merchandise and distribution of a controlled substance (marijuana). Wilma G. Allen, 21, has been arrested for aggravated assault after she allegedly placed her stepdaughter. Candy, in a tub of hot water at their home in Jensen. Candy is in stable condition at the University of Utah Intermountain Burn Care Center, where she is being treated for burns over 17 percent of her body. Candy was admitted to the Ashley Valley Medical Center where police officials suspected child abuse. Mrs. Allen, who was said by sheriff , officials to have placed the child iii the hoi water as a punishment, is free on bail. In November, 13 died in traffic accidents. These figures represent the lowest October-Novembtraffic fatalities since er 1972 As of November, a total of 274 persons have died in Utah traffic accidents. This figure represents a decrease of 57 deaths under the same period in 1981, when 331 persons were killed.
