Show NATIONAL FOREST TIMBER FOll SALE Scaled bids will bo received by the Forest Supervisor, or his authorized representative, In the office of the Forest Supervisor, Cedar, Utah, up to and not later than 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 15, 1962, for all live and recently dead (sound sapwood) timber marked or designated for cutting on an area of approximately 7290 acres In the East Fork of Sevier River Drainage, Township 36 South, Range 4 and 4V4 West, Salt Lake Base and Meridian, Dixie National Forest, estimated to contain live and recently dead (sound sap-wood) sawtimber as follows: 1,900 M ft. b.m. of pondcrosa pine, 135 M ft. b.m. of Douglas fir, wliite fir, and limber pine, more or less. In addition there is within the sale area an uncstimatcd volume of merchantable older dead (unsound sapwood) sawtimber of all species which will be paid for at $1.00 per M ft. b.m. The minimum acceptable bid per M ft. b.m. for live and recently dead (sound sapwood) timber Is: For ponderosa pine logs $8.00 which includes a base rate of $6.45 for stumpage and $1.55 for slash disposal; for Douglas fir, white fir, and limber pine logs $8.00 which Includes a base rate of $6.45 for stumpage, and $1.55 for slash disposal. The term "stumpage'' Includes deposit for sale area betterment. The prices bid for stumpage for live and recently dead (sound sapwood) timber shall be considered as tentative rates which shall be reduced or Increased by 0.5 of the difference between the contract base Indices and the quarterly average of the Western Pine Association index prices as calculated by the Forest Service at the end of each calendar quarter. In no event, however, shall the adjusted rates for each quarter be less than the base rates stated above. The stumpage rates for older dead (unsound sapwood) will not be subject to quarterly ad-jj justment. I For ponderosa pine and Douglas fir-white fir-limber pine, which have two base indices, (1) The high base Index will be used when the average index is higher than such high base index, (2) no adjustment will be made when the average Index equals either of the base indices or falls between ' them, and (3) the low base in-1 dex will be used when the average index is lower than such base index. A certified check, cashier's check, bank draft, or money ; order, payable to the Forest ; Service, USDA, in the amount r of $900.00 must accompany '. each bid to be applied on tho ff purchase price, refunded or t retained in whole or in part as actual or liquidated damag- cs according to the provisions f of the bid. t The right to reject any and r all bids is reserved.
