Show representative conventions july 6 was the date set for the holding of most of the peoples peopled party conventions for the nomination of candidates for members of the house of representatives re of the legislature of 1890 in this city four conventions were held that embracing the first preel precinct net being the NINTH the convention was held in the ninth ward school house prof J H paul was made chairman MAUI john kirkman secretary and william hart chaplain of the temporary organization after the report of the committee on an credentials the temporary organization kaniza tion was made W riter biter 6 wm win fuller 1 11 adam 1 le grand young wung was made the unanimous choice of the convention as candidate for member of the legislature the flip following were then selected as D houtz tenth ward J H paul joseph keddington alternate fergus coalter TENTH DISTRICT this convention was held at the county court house and made the following temporary organization 1 I M waddell chairman elias S wright secretary geo M cannon chaplain thomas winter sargeant at arms after prayer praye by the chaplain the following committee on credentials was appointed by the chairman A M cannon W C burton henry wallace A G giauque don rushton the committee reported twenty three delegates and two alternates the convention resolved itself into a committee of the whole and B W ashton was called to the chair the committee of the whole reported the name of hon john dark Clarka as sits its choice for representative from the tenth district the report of the committee was accepted and the hon john dark clark placed in nomination as representative from the tenth district the nomination was unanimous delegates to the fifth courell council convention to meet on wednesday next were DISTRICT convention held at the seventeenth district schoolroom john N pike was chosen chairman B 8 young secretary J L I 1 assistant secretary sec B W driggs jr chaplain an and zebulon jacobs sergeant at arms of the temporary organization the committee on credentials were appointed and after their report was received the temporary organization was made permanent A W young james sharp jas E talmage and A W carlson were placed in nomination and balloting was proceeded with the first three ballots gave young the highest number of votes cast but this was less than a majority of the convention on the fourth ballot a combination was made in favor of hon james sha sharp the result being mr sharp 17 mr young 12 mr sharp was made the unanimous choice of the convention speeches were made by a number of the delegates and the water question railroads and other sub ejects of legislation were vigorously handled the following were then selected as delegates to the sixth council jas C spencer at large spencer clawson SIXTH DISTRICT the delegates to the sixth representative senta tive district convention met at farmington on the afternoon of saturday july 6 the body was to be composed of thirty delegates from all the precincts of davis da vis and morgan counties three precincts 0 salt lake and one from summit the roll roli call after the report of the committee on credentials showed twenty seven members present north north point milton and Ren hennefer nefer precincts not being represented the permanent organization with TF Roueche chairman jas tucked vice
