Show I The Wheat Pool" ( THE great w heat pool, launched by Western j farmers, is nothing more or less than a wheat producers' union. The same argument that may' be advanced against an organization of city labor may be hurled at th's group of food producers. And why shouldn't the producers of our fooj gel together? Why should they not do what skilled labor has done? What bankers have done? What lawyers have done? What practically every other business has done? If the food producers had been organized last fall it would not have happened that of all price reductions' farm prices fell lowest. Such an organization among producers of food need not mean an increased price to consumers. con-sumers. It may even spell lower prices, for it certainly will do much toward driving out the toll takmg methods devised for and by countless I middle hands entirely unnecessary in the economic 1 distribution of food. |
