Show I Ditinguihed Utahn ITAM will rejoice in the rccornltion which has been jiven the state with the advent of the Mardlnj administrion. Former Governor William Wil-liam Spry has been named commissioner of the United States land office and the honor which has been conferred upon him is one to be shared . by the state at large. The ability of the former executive and his interest in the problems of the West should make him an ideal official for this post, which of necessity Is chiefly concerned with Western problems. Other Utahns are prominently mentioned for positions of trust in the national administration. Frank J. Hagenbarth is mentioned as likely to receive appointment as a member of the inter-. inter-. state commerce commission, and Frank T. Mines Is urged for the shipping board if he can be prevailed upon to accept. It also seems likely that former Senator George Sutherland will re- ceive appointment .to the United States supreme ' court. These honors constitute a tribute to the char-J tcter of the state. They indicate that. the state is not without men who measure up to the high standards of leadership in the nation. In the appointment of Governor Spry and the consideration consider-ation of the other distinguished Utahns, the people peo-ple of this state should experience the deepest pride. |
