Show THE EYE OF THE ARTIST VS. FOUR PIC TURES. - The suit of Edward Evans and J. B. Fairbanks for a writ of mandate to compel the awarding committee of the Utah Art Institute to award the state prize of $300.00 to one or the other of them is really a most humorous state of affairs. After these two gentlemen on the Exhibition Committee shut out other competitors, they wish a reward for their day labor on the four pictures submitted, and the funniest part of the whole business is the fact that each of the awarding committee has a different opinion as to which of the pictures is the least worst. So the jury is hung, and the court can't order the committee to make the award. |
