Layton Succumbs At 90 Basil Orson Layton, 90, of Clearfield, passed away July 26, 1980 in a HE WAS born August 19, 1889 in Layton, a son of Orson and Ruth Bodily Layton. He married Jennie LaVerne W'eaveron June 28, 1918 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mrs. Layton died May 2, 1977. He was a lifelong farmer of Academy and the U. of U. He was an active member and high priest in the LDS Church and held many church positions. He served in the Central States Mission and was a veteran of World War I serving with the Army Signal Corps. HE IS survived by his son, Hubert H. Layton of Kaysvill-e- ; seven grandchildren and Mary; brothers, Ezra L. Layton and Delbert E. Layton both of Layton; Alvin Layton, Battle Mountain, Nev.; sister, Mrs. Louis (Tryphene) Hagen, Santa Paulos, Calif. Funeral services were held the Fruit Heights Second Ward Relief Society. SHE WAS born Mayl5, 1934 in Kaysville, a daughter of Clifford B. and Bertha Juanita Payne Clark. On April 8, 1955 she married Frank Parkin Call in Bountiful. She was reared in Kaysville and Bountiful and had lived in Fruit Heights for 13 years. She attended Davis High School. DEDICATION OF the grave was offered by Dean Clark. Interment was in the Kaysville City Cemetery. 6th Ward LDS Tours August 9th Expression MRS. CALL was a member of Fruit Heights Second Ward, had been a Relief Society visit- teacher, Sunday School librarian, Primary teacher, nursery leader and had held various other positions. Surviving are her husband, Fruit Heights; two sons, Rick Clark Call and Lance Clark Call, both of Fruit Heights and ing her mother of Bountiful. Call and family Tours of the recently completed Layton 6th Ward LDS Chapel will be conducted by the Seventies of Layton Utah Stake on Saturday August 9 from 2 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the chapel, 2560 N. There will be missionary exhibits and films showing the different phases of LDS Church history and aspects of church doctrine set up in conversation centers. Excited over the arrival of a daughter are Mr. and Mrs. Gregg Hansen of Kaysville. The baby arrived at the Lake-vieHospital in Bountiful on July 14, 1980, and weighed in at a wee 5 lbs. 7 oz. She will be named Elizabeth. The mother is the former Paula Kay Christiansen of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde F. Hansen and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Christiansen, all of Salt Lake City are the grandparents. include Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Markham, Spanish Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Lyman of Payette, Ut., and Mrs. Zell Sant of Salt Lake City. The new additions arrived at the Logan LDS Hosptila on July 19. Camille weighed 4 lbs. 13 oz. and Taralyn weighed 5 lbs. 5 oz. Mrs. Whicker is the former Pam Stones of Logan. Sill, in- surance executive, church leader, author and native of Layton on Saturday August 9. Mayor Lewis G. Shields has proclaimed that day as Sterling W. Sill Day. A PROGRAM will be held on Sautrday Aug. 9 at the new Layton Sixth LDS Ward Chapel, 2560 N. Church Street, Layton. The reception will begin at 5 p.m. with a special program highlighting the center. Mrs. Fern Jones is confined to the Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful where she underwent major surgery . Mrs. Millie Heaston has been confined to the Holy Cross hospital in Salt Lake City undergoing treatment for pneumonia. She is now at home convalescing. The grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. Norris W. Nal- Layton To Honor Sterling W. Sill will The first year Mia Maids of the Kaysville 12th Ward spent two days at the Triple B. Ranch at Robertson. Wyo. owned by Bishop Richard Brough. Those attending were Kim Hamblin, Angie Smith. Sharee Holliday and Denalee Brough. They were accompanied by Jenna Smith and Lauren and Jim Varney and son Daniel. Mrs. Varney is an advisor. Mrs. Elaine Cullimore was guest speaker at the Kaysville 13th LDS Ward Relief Society meeting on Wednesday evening at the chapel. Mrs. Cullimore spoke on the Beehive House in Salt Lake City of which he is a ruide at the THE PARADE, held on July 22 encompasses some 600 entries including a wide variety of costumes, floats, decorated bikes, marching groups and even some horses. First prize ribbons were given for five general categories. The best individual entry ribbon went to Chase Sanders, Trent Sanders, Misty Milam and David Webster who were dressed as elephants and their elephant herder. THE AWARD for best bike went to Bobby Peppier and the best float award went to Ryan Mitchell. Denise Johnson's marching group w on the aw arJ for best group. The award for best of parade went to the Kaysville Third Ward Primary. The Primary had as their theme "American Through the Ages." They brought a float and all the children dressed as famous Amer icans from our past. THE JUDGES this yeai were the Miss Kaysville royalty, Theresa Evans, Julia Koetitz and Pat Thompson After the parade all the pai ticipants enjoyed a refreshing popsicle.
