wa the daughter ot of william T and dannog when 16 years ot of age ahe iffe married william clegg she was waa a loving wife a kind mother and a good to ai allwoo who know hoew her she was the I 1 mother of twelve children of which the oldest is in but 15 i years of age and of whom two are dead ahe she med died a faith faithful ful latter day saint WILLIAM CLEGG FLORENCE AGNES WHITE on monday december slat sint florence agnes agnee three year old daughter of thomas and agnes white accident accidentally aly fell into a tub of boiling water waier and was severely scalded medical aid was waa called and what could be done for the suffering child was done but all efforts forts Of to 0 o save it proved futile at 1 a m january 2 1895 death came and ended its miseries the child was buried on and the true wite wife of cornelius savage son of brother and sister henry savage of payson she was a faithful member of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints end and a faithful teacher in our sabbath school the funeral service was held january lo 10 at li 11 am in the school house of box creek there was a large attendance of friends and relatives to pay their last respects to their departed sister and friend I 1 she leaves a hubband hua band father mother sis die er and brother and many near friends to mourn her loss J 0 ANDERSEN ISABELLA died at midway december 1894 isabella beloved wile of john Hol holfeltz Holp eliz jr and daughter of samuel and hannah hair she was born january eth 1867 at london Ayr ayrshire shird Scot scotland lani she was baptized april 1878 at kelt place near Kill marnock under the hands handi ot of elder D S mcfarlan she emigrated with her parents the same year and hei el aled in midway wasatch couy county where she resided till her demise the cause of death was pa euro pneumonia she took sick nick on december and on the gave birth to a premature male child ether it only hur survived a few hours and its pure spirit then passed to the life beyond to god who gave it she was the mother of four children three boys and one girl three ot of them survive her she was a faithful sifea devoted mother and ft a true rue latter day saint respected and beloved by all who knew her funeral services were held over her remains in the large meeting house bishop watkins presiding the opening prayer was offered by J T wilson consoling remarks were ladeby made by bishop watkins J B wilson wilsonn nM M gerber and A wootton sen who all spoke of the good qualities and many virtues of the deceased eo eased benediction was waa offered by george wilson the house was tilled filled to overflowing and a large cortege of relatives and friends followed her remains to her last resting place there to sleep in peace till the morning odthe of the hatfield Hat neld mabs M ats october 1 1825 when at the age ot 21 while unmarried she joined the church of jesus christ ot of latter day saints and was the only one of her family thai ever embraced the Gor gondel she ha i been working in the factory and had laid up sufficient money to pay her passage from new york to san francisco all her folks her after afier having joined the church she sailed from now new york on the ship brooklyn in brannaka Brann Bren aaa nans company was waa on the water six months and landed at san francisco when that place was a village of 01 about or people she there met and became acquainted with general james ferguson who came to california as one of the mormon battalion they were married at san sail francisco and then started for utah she rode from california to utah on horseback hor horh beback eback landing here in the spring of 1848 she lived in salt lake city with her husband james ferguson until 1861 when she with her family of five children moved to the town of lehi utah county where she lived until then she moved to 10 salt sail lake city and hns has since resided with her son attorn barlow Ferg ferguson apon she was a faithful baiter balter day saim up to the ume time of her death she leaves is a large circle of friends and acquaintances to 10 mourn her loss lose she a cough for about six years which with organic heart trouble took her off she did not suffer a great deal ot of pain during her last illness she was 1 surrounded by all her children at the time of her death NATHAM DAVIS DA VIS natham davis who died december 29 1894 was born in hanover township columbiana county ohio october 2 1814 he was raised a quaker but was waa dropped from that churco when he was 22 years old tor for departing from plainness plain nesa in dress was married march 31 1836 1886 to sarah woolley his fa faher her died noon alter and he was left in charge of the estate lie he was baptized into the church of jesus christ of laner day saints ona on april 2 1850 by in law edwin D woolley Wo oiley and one year after he carted with his family for salt lake city crossing the plains in isaac allreds alfreds All reds company he arrived in the city on the ard 3rd of october 1851 on december 18 1852 he was ordained a high priest and on february 7 1853 he was appointed by president brigham young lo 10 take charge of the machine shop of the public works located on the demple jena pie block he held this ibis position for beveral years august 26 1856 he be was set apart as first counselor to bishop Call callister hater ot of the seventeenth ward filling that position until december 15 1851 when he succeeded elder callister Cali lster as bishop of the ward and held that office until uncil january 1 1876 when he resigned in his younger days he sustained suat dined a high reputation as a boob mechanic aap ic and business man lu in february 1867 he went eat for president young and purchased about worth of machinery for the manufacture manul of woollen goods and shipped it to the valley from 1869 to 1872 he held the position of master mechanic on the utah central railway in lbs 3 he established an iron foundry in ill the e seventeenth ward under the firm name ot of nathan davisa davis fc sons sone he was territorial sealer nester of weights a and nd measures from 1858 to 1859 and from 1886 to 1890 at an early day he served several terms in the balt bait lake city council he has also alo served as school trustee and filled numerous other positions position of honor and trust he was the father of sixteen children and left numerous grand children and ana great since the time he first became a latter day dav saint he has ever been known lor for his faithfulness and integrity in the cause ot of truth WILLIAM ELMER OGDEN CITY utah jan 6 1895 elder william elmer whose demise occurred december 15 1894 joined the church of jesus christ of latter day saints in very early times limes he wai waa the son of john elmer and sally peque he was born at norwich ChiL chittenden county vermont september he with all his fathers family were baptized into the church on the bilth of july 1835 1885 in IM 1688 they removed from atom vermont and settled near quenoy illinois in 1840 they removed wain again to iowa and settled flett led about miles west of nauvoo here they remained for eight years when they traveled westward to 10 councle council bluffs where they remained four years on march 26 1847 william elmer married miss hannah bolinda child I 1 daughter of alfred B child and sister of warren G child on july 3 1852 they commenced their long overland march for utah they traveled in company 16 captain curtis bein being in command thel arrived in salt take lake city october 2nd and tze toe same year shortly after reaching utah william elmer DI merand and his family came north and settled in weber county near where ginghams Bing bams hams fort now called lynne was built during the falland fall and winter he hauled logo loga from the canyon and built a log cabin the roof of which was made of polen polea and dirt and into this house he installed his family in the fall fail of 1863 1853 the indian troubles commenced in that part of the county when the saints were instructed to build a fort and gather into it for safety this they did and built a spanish wall around it a good portion of which was done by william elmer this place was called ginghams Bing bams hams fort in the winter of 1854 he suffered from a severe attack of mountain fever which nearly proved fatal to him my by the mercy of god he was spared but arom from the effects of the sickness he never jully fully recovered his normal physical strength tb during the summer of 1855 the grass hoppers raided the farms fields and gardens they came in countless millions in clouds cloud which at times darkened the upper deep they destroyed destroy jad nearly isearl y everything tt tf at was used for food for man or animal fowl or creeping thing but by hard fighting he managed to save a little food irom from their ravages to feed his family in the spring of 1856 he be located in ogden city late in the lall fall of 1856 he was called with a number of others to go back on the plains and help to bring in the hand cart companies of saints who were blockaded by the deep snows to this call he responded cheer silv and rendered efficient I 1 aid to the suffering emigrants in 1857 he was commissioned captain of cavalry company A nauvoo legion and with hit his men marc marched marchard herd to echo canyon on to defend the peoples rights which were then invaded in the mormon ate in WS 1858 be participated in the move south he stayed at payson during the winter and returned to lo ogden city in 1859 where he continued his residence for the remainder of his mortal career he was subsequently commissioned major in the nauvoo legion which office he held hed until the legion was zed by order of the then governor of utah the funeral which was largely attended was held in the second ard meeting house addresses were delivered by elders charles F middleton Midd teton bi bishop chop robert joseph hall and others who were intimately acquainted quain ted with him tor for a great number ol of years all ali the speakers bore testimony to his great worth as a man a citizen a so soldier fAier a husband aud father and a faithful latter day saint his hia posterity erity wass was large seventy eight in all to date he EDD had sixteen children bivy five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren most of whom L urvine him lie he was of a peace 1 disposition a patient sufferer in affliction he was upright and honest in all his dealings with hi fellow 1 men he was formerly a seventy and at the time of his hia death was a member of the 1894 va 94 deceased was born february 16 1812 ai a a village called team in staffordshire ford shire england he being aged 82 years and ten months when he passed away he was married three times first to elizabeth howells the mother of james jamea dunn of provo mrs elizabeth Elizabe ih stubbs of provo and mrs mra hannah dunkley of american pork fork second to mrs MM sarah bradshaw Brada haw the mother of william B dunn ol of american fork and joseph W dunn dann of frisco beaver county third to mrs emma robet roberts Robe its to who survives him he leaves leavea three bouts bon and two daughters 38 88 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren was baptized into the church ot of jesus christ of latter day saints on july 7 1844 by hla hill brother john dunn was ordained an elder in may 1847 by elder M in man che iier oer england he preached the gospel in lancashire yorkshire derbyshire and cheshire presided over branches at ai ratcliffe Rai cliffa White whitefield flold and eccles organized a branch of the church at mosley common near dear manchester ordaining john owen john stone richard greenhalgh william stone and william mort more as priests and teachers and baptizing among others william greenhalgh john parr and elizabeth ciare he baptized mrs mary hindley of american fork on the 3rd ard day of march 1848 and her husband john hindley in the following september besides many others whose names do not appear in 1850 he emig emigrated mEed to leaving liverpool on the ah of november 1850 and arrived in salt lake city june h b 1801 having driven a team of ten mules lor for phelps A childs from independence mo to salt lake oily city which he always alwayn considered quite a teat feat bior or one who had never before attempted anything of the kind soon after arriving in salt lake city he was called to go with Pies president ident brigham Brigha young mYoung and company on an expedition tion to the southern country to look out and locate places of settlement for the saints who were called to make ho homes ea I 1 in the counties of millard deaver beaver and iron the company left salt lake city in march 1852 and returned on the day of may having traveled ati as far south as cedar city in iron county and having visited all ail the principal streams and in utah bouth ot of salt lake ct city I 1 father vann dunn always spoke of that tri trip p as being one of the most pleasant and profitable pr oniabe bAe of his life tor for he was daily in the company ot of such men as president brigham young heber C Kimb Kimbal allGeo Goo A smith orson pratt willord wilford wood raft and kihen and heard daily a continual toast of izod good things pertaining to the gospel and plan of salvation and the coun counsels selu given to the people pertaining to their temporal welfare he was wasa a member of the old nauvoo bra braad baiad with william pitt james smithies bies horace whitney phil margotta robert seth rigby and others was an orderly sergeant in a regiment of cavalry in the nauvoo legion IQ in 1860 he moved to american fork find and has bay resided there up to within a short abort time of his death in 1866 he organized a bi baass ass band in american pork fork a and nd was an active member for some years since coming to utah he has like lilie many others followed many avocations being in lur turn n a teamster a hedger and ditcher an adobe maker clerk and farmer father dunn bunn suffered most intensely for about a month before his death from kidney trouble and at ai last succumbed and expressed a desire to go to rest he died in lull
