Show County Planning Group Outlines Program For Present and Future The first in a series of planned meetings for coordinating the work of the county in the interest inter-est of present project development develop-ment and post-war rehabilitation, was put over Saturday, Sept. 11, at 4 p. m., with representatives from the Hurricane Lions club, Enterprise Chamber of Commerce, the recently organized County Planning committee and the St. George Chamber of Commerce attending, the latter group having called the meeting. Also present by request were T. Wayne Cahoon from the Bureau Bur-eau of Reclamation, Washington county office, and J. H. Jensen, field worker of the Associated (Continued on page four) Co. Planning Board (Continued from first page) Civic clubs of Southern Utah. Much valuable information was given by each of these men, and particularly by Mr. Cahoon, regarding re-garding the prosecuting of reclamation recla-mation projects, the program that must be followed in testing and determining the feasibility and desirability of proposed projects and answered many questions presented pre-sented by those present. Present projects to be put underway un-derway with the recent appropriations appropri-ations assured by Gov. Herbert B. Maw, including the airport improvement, im-provement, the St. George to Enterprise En-terprise road and the Washington field road were discussed, and several sev-eral possible water storage and recreational area improvements were outlined. Dr. Ray Farnsworth of Enterprise, Enter-prise, who returned recently from several years work as instructor at the Ohio State university and farm crop manager for that area, showed several reels of film on local recreation areas, including the Pine Mountain section near the Enterprise Reservoir. Much interest and appreciation was expressed for the work of this first meeting and the sponsors spon-sors hope to cover more ground i during future meetings. |
