The following day students iced their heart shaped cookies, prepared the punch, and joyfully anticipated that evenings learning fair where it was their intention to sell their by Kris Ewert Miss Ericksons a.m. and p.m. kindergarten classes probably know more about the basic economic functions than most of their parents. Through the devotion of their special teacher, students were presented with the opportunity to participate in a financial venture. Ail 55 of Miss Ericksons students were given the option of buying into this cookie venture for 15 cents. All 55 students participated. Their 15 cent investiment was used to purchase the commodities necessary to make sugar cookies and punch. Over a three day period students, prepared, rolled out, and cut the cookie dough. Nancy Erickson then , goods for, hopefully, a profit. To everyones pleasant surprise the cookies and punch (which were sold at a dime each) were sold out within the first half-hou- r. Nancy Erickson smiles a bit and tattered as she sighed, MIve never worked so hard for $12 in my life. But, she added with her usual perk., "it was worth it. UteGQSQt The Golden Spike Empire is proud to present a citizens cross country ski race that will take place Saturday, Feb. 17. At 10 a.m., skiers will assemble at Andersons Cove Campground at Pineview reservoir. It is located on the south shore, 12 miles east of Ogden City on Route 39, just past the Snow Basin turnoff. The race is being sanctioned by the Wasatch Nordic Race Association. A total of 13 classes including all sexes, ages and abilities will be considered. Five, 10, 15, and 20 KM races will be run according to classes. An entry fee of $3 will be the only charge. First, second, and third prizes will go in each class. Each participant will receive a TRAK ski drawing and a uolden Spike pin. The race is a courtesy of the Golden Spike Empire Inc., Trak Ski Com- Vii kindergarten class at Plain City Elementary.
