Show A DISASTROUS EIRE Twenty Thousand Dollars Worth of Lumber Destroyed The Blnzo Was at J W Eardleys Yard on State Street Tho Insurance Xlro on Commercial Street Shortly before 1 oclock yesterday morning the lumber yard of J W Eard Icy on State street below Sixth South was discovered to be ou fire and an alarm was turned in By the time the department arrived on the scene sheets of flame were going up from all parts of the yard and buildings in the viciniiy were threatened Fortunately there was no wind blowing and the firemen soon had 3000 feetof hose stretched and poured eight streams of water into the yard Every man in the department and all the apparatus were called into service and although the flames wero confined to the lumber piles but little was saved The firemen worked faithfully until 7 oclock yesterday morning and did excellent service ser-vice The office building facing the street belonged to T 0 Angel I was destroyed Uninsured stroyed and the loss on that is 1200 i Mr Eardley is at present out of town and accurate figures cannot be obtained I but his loss will foot up about 20000 on Which he carried 125UO insurance distributed dis-tributed among the following agencies I Home Fire 55000 Fuller Young 5000 Harris l Wilson 2500 |
