Show RETURN DISABLED. More than 1200 officers and men sent by Canada to the battlefields of France arrived in' this country the other day on their way back to the dominion, having hav-ing been invalided home. Some are totally to-tally disabled, while others will return to the trenches after rebuilding their health. These Canadians have participated partici-pated iu some of the most desperate fighting of which there is any record, and if they return covered with wounds there is some consolation in the fact that they also are covered with glory-The glory-The first contingent of Canadian troops to reach the front were all but wiped out, among them being the "Princess Pats." This regiment speedily became a special object of hatred upon the part of the Germans, and every effort was made to destroy it. In the course of time th"so efforts succeeded, and we hear very little about the exploits of ' tiiis gallant organization save in the i niiigay.ines. Canada has plaj'ed a very important part in the European war, and her stalwart sons have brought great glory to the dominion. We hope the hoys who are returning disabled will be well taken care of for the balance of their days. |
