Show Torn by the Tiger Alonzo Kearns a boy 8 years old says the Virginia Nov Chronicle of the 22nd inst had his arm and hand badly injured at Barretts circus this morning morn-ing The little fellow was climbing up on a wagon containing a cage of black tigers and caught hold of the iron grat ings covering a window in i the cage about one foot square to pull himself up when one of the tigers reached out with his paw and caught the boy by the coat near the shoulder of the right arm tearing off the sleeve and lacerating the flesh of the arm above the wrist and taking out apiece a-piece from the thick part of the inside of the hand below the base of the thumb The unfortunate boy was carried to his home at No 24 South = G street by one of the circus employes and the wounded limb was dressed by Dr Conn The brave little fellow bore the pain without a whimper and brightened up when told that he should have a free pass to the show while it remained here |
