Show Observations I By JACK BUCKLE It has been said that when a person starts remembering the good old days his future is all behind him and hes he's just lust about through but Ive I've decided to risk being dated dated dated dat dat- ed and figured finished and recall for you youa a few of the old times which I wouldn't mind having back For I remember When funny papers were things people laughed at ins instead read of running serials with more blood in them than a professional donor When football games were played for the student body and students got to sit in the middle and watch instead of being down to the ten yard line my reserved seat the last three games and having to listen to the loudspeaker to know what's happen happen- ing When only men smoked cigarettes now cigarettes now even cigars arent aren't sacred When men led girls while dancing Now its it's a fifty-fifty fifty proposition for if the girl starts first the man has to follow or get the heck kicked out of him When only men wore pants and it was safe to playfully slap an occupied pair on the Southern exposure Now you cant can't even be sure if the pants arc are accompanied by bya a shirt boots and a four-foot four stride and it takes a senior in anatomy or a person blessed with intuition to start slapping with any degree degree degree de de- de- de gree of security When athletics were engaged in by men only Now girls play basketball baseball and even football and the only sport left entirely to men is shaving Heaven forbid the day that goes over overl I When only football players wore knee length athletic socks and took them off after a game Now girls girl's wear them about the campus and look even worse than the boys When judges in the city court investigated cases case and handed down thoughtful decisions instead of sitting there like human robots singing ginging out unchanging fines and making a racket out of justice When some things were sacred to girls and they could still blush Now Little Egypt would be a flop here on on n a normal day and even Sally would have to have a band to get geta a good crowd if the wind was blowing |
