Show Flaming Gorge in top ten popular areas Flaming Gorge Reservoir on the Utah-Wyoming border ranked ran-ked seventh among the ten most popular recreation areas administered by the Bureau of Reclamation during 1968, Rep. Sherman P. Lloyd, R-Vtah, reported re-ported Tuesday. According to the bureau's 1968 "Crop Report and Related Relat-ed Data," Flaming Gorge recorded re-corded 1.5 million visitor days in 1968. The figure represented a slight decrease from the 1.6 million visitor days recorded durng the previous year. Lake Mead behind Hoover Dam in Nevada continued to be the top reclamation attraction attrac-tion for recreational use, recording re-cording 5.4 million visitor days. Following Lake Mead, in order, were Jackson Lake in Wyoming; Wyom-ing; Folsom Lake, California; Lake Thunderbird, Oklahoma; Lake Havasu, Arizona; Lake Berryessa, Calif ornla; Flaming Gorge; Altus, Oklahoma-; San-ford, San-ford, Texas; and Lake Casitas, California. Rep. Lloyd said the largest recreation activity at reclamation reclama-tion recreation areas was sightseeing, followed by fishing, camping, picknicking, beating, swimming, water skiing, and hunting. |
