Show Fly the flag Veteran Day Nov. 11 Veteran's Day, November 11, will be observed here with veterans organizations joining together to pay homage ho-mage to those who paid the supreme sacrifice and to those who are currently engaged en-gaged in the armed services fo the protection of our country. Under the direction of the VFW and the American Lemony Le-mony will be conducted at the civic center park at 8 a.m. Following this service, there will be similar services conducted at each of the two cemeteries. Also assisting in the commemoration com-memoration during the week will be the Americanism progam sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary and American Legion at their meeting November 12. Mayor Calvin Packard has signed a proclamation urging urg-ing all citizens to recognize Veteran's Day by flying the flag and joining in the observance ob-servance at programs during dur-ing the week of November 9-15. Many young men of this community have fought for our nation and some have sacrificed their lives through services with the United States Armed Forces in combat against many enemies ene-mies and the veterans who gave their sight, limbs or other parts of their bodies to protect this great land of America cannot be forgotten. forgot-ten. These men have earned the respect and the tribute of every citizen who is today to-day enjoying the freedoms of our land, the mayor pointed out in his proclamation. |
