Show Scout Troopers Back from Outing Twenty-six boy scouts of America, comprising members of troop 19 of the Bryqe Canyon council, with troop headquarters at Centerfield, accompanied accom-panied by Mel Anderson, chairman of the troop committee, Sterling Haws, scoutmaster, and Glen Myrup, a member mem-ber of the executive board, have returned re-turned from a five-day outing at Twelve Mile flats. Happy and joyful the troopsters, as well as the officers, declared the trip one of the most enjoyable en-joyable held in years. A big commissary wagon, loaded down with food, bedding and all the necessary equipment, preceded the boys. Later the scouts, mounted on horses, went to the camp and made plans for the five-day outing. Many interesting side trips were made by the scouts, among the most interesting interest-ing being a climb 'to the top of Mt. Heliotrope, one of the loftiest peaks in Utah. At this pbint the government govern-ment floats the American flag every day and the mountain became famous fam-ous when the government operated a heliograph, whereby a study of the mountains and geological formations might be made. Ferron reservoir, White mountains and Island lake were among other points visited. When at camp the scouts were active ac-tive in flag drills, scout activities and other interesting and entertaining games. It was the annual outing for troop 19, and throughout there was no sickness nor accidents but the I mess box suffered great onslaughts. i |
