Show BEDTIME STORY FOR CHILDREN by THORNTON W BURGESS GLUTTON AND THE TRAPPER P PETER FTER RABBIT sit still you tou know how full of 0 curiosity he Is 13 and how dearly he loves a story he had listened quite breathlessly while honker the goose told how glutton the wolverine had found all the traps of the trapper up there in the far north where honker was spending the summer what lid did the trapper do when he found that all till his traps bad been pulled out in plain sight and all the bait taken asked Peler Peter eagerly bonker chuckled it was wai a deep throatily atly chuckle he lost his temper said he be ive seen buster bear lose Ms his temper said he be honker If looked over at buster and buster looked foolish but buster Is nothing to what that man was when he lost his temper he talked to himself in a very loud voice of course I 1 dont know what lie he said but I 1 can guess he went from one trap to another and the farther he got the angrier he grew but getting angry do him any good it never does any one any goodso at last lie he stopped getting angry anyway he be stopped showing hla his anger and went to work to set the traps over agair and again and this thia time he took more care than ever to set them then he got a piece of meat and around it be hid bid a lot of stout traps I 1 guess that was just tor for glutton I 1 suppose lie thought that if glutton found one there lie he would think that that was all and might step ZM M 1 T he went on hunting for traps trap until he had found every one into one of the others while he be was eating the meat 1 I just bull hung around where I 1 could watch the very next day along came glutton my but that fellow Is smart I 1 I 1 just had to laugh the first thing he did was to hunt for a trap when he found it he pulled it out then what do you think he did gobbled cobbled up that meat and stepped in one of the other traps and was caught cried peter excitedly nothing of the kind replied honker ile ha even look at that meal ile he went right on bunting for traps until he had found every one tt it was just as it if he had seen that hunter set those traps but he when lie had found the hie last one he be just walked over to that piece of meat and ate ale every scrap of it then he went on pulling out the traps which had been set for other little people just na as before and when lie had eaten so much that he eat another mouthful mouth fal he just spoiled the rest of the baits bails so ao that no one else would eat them when that trapper found that glutton hall had played that trick on him again he set hla his traps again right away but spent a lot of time with his terrible gun looting looking for glutton while lie he was oft off looking for him glutton came to his house and with his stout |
