Springville high school track and tennis stars will compete this week end in the state finals at Salt Lake City in tho University of Utah stadium beginning at 10 a.m. . The Red Devils qualified men in 8 events for the state finals in tho regiorr 3 track meet held last Friday at the Y. Springville placed second to Lincoln, losing out 88-72 after posting the most first places. pla-ces. Qualifying for tho state meet Saturday are Warren Schouten, who wili enter in both the 100 and 220. Billy Bird qualified for the shotput and the discus. Reid Porter Por-ter will run both the low and high hurdles. John Gustin and Gerry Childs qualified for the discus and javelin, respectively. In the tennis competition, Doug Smoot, who won the region singles title, and Phil Haymond and Blaine Van Patten who placed in the doubles, will represent the Red Devils.
