Mrs. Leda Jeppson, and two THE DAUGHTERS of the Utah Pioneers meeting was held 1 at the home of Daughter Beryl i I. Dean, Wednesday afternoon, i Nov. 10th. Daughter Erma Cline, second vice-captain, presided. ; Secretary Lou Moore gave the lesson on "Trails and Pioneers That Followed Them." Funds for the special D U P building in Salt Lake was discussed dis-cussed pro and con. Due to the publishing and expense of our county book, it was decided to table the matter. 1 A buffet lunch was served before be-fore the meeting. The table was lighted with tapers held in real pioneer brass candlesticks. The sugar and creamer used also were real china, pioneer relics of Mrs. Dean's family. A cozy tea set also was displayed. Eleven members were present to enjoy the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Grim-shaw Grim-shaw had as their dinner guests Tuesday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Cline, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Osborne, and son, Russell. THE REGULAR business meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary was held Monday evening, eve-ning, at the home of Mrs. Letha Smith. The meeting night was changed to the second Monday of each month, so the program sent out from the state department depart-ment can receive more consideration consider-ation from the various committee chairmen. November being membership drive month, Mrs. Magdalena White, chairman, extended an invitation to all eligible women to affiliate with the auxiliary. Plans for carrying out hte Christmas program were made, and committees appointed. A contribution to the V F W Auxiliary Aux-iliary Memorial Fund was authorized. auth-orized. Following the business meet-ins meet-ins Mrs. Letha Smyth and Mrs. MISS PATTY BAKER was four years old November 17th, which called for a celebration. A party was given by her mother, moth-er, Mrs. George H. Baker, on the eventful day. Five little friends had a lovely afternoon playing games and eating birthday cake. I IT BEING Mrs. Bertha Hickman's Hick-man's birth anniversary, members mem-bers of her bridge club present ed her a gift Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Stella Persons. Per-sons. A Spanish dinner and birthday cake were prepared and served by the hostess. At bridge, Mrs. Theressa Pitchforth, Mrs. Garnetta Hollis, Mrs. Flossie Rickerson and Mrs. Helen Leech were the prize winners. Others present were Mrs. Lena Morris and Mrs. Hazel Baxter. THE FAMILY of LaVar Voor- i tiees surprised him last Satur- ; day night, on his birth anniver- 1 sary, with a hot dinner at his 1 home. Well-wishers were Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Voorhees, Mr. and Mrs. Ashley Workman , and children, Joyce and Jay; , Sylvia Voorhees, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Voorhees of Provo, and . Mr. and Mrs. Ross Palmer. Cards were enjoyed after ; dinner. ft WEDNESDAY, Nov. 10th, Mrs. Audrey Skillicorn was hostess host-ess to her pinochle club. Ladies enjoying the evening were Ruth Lish, Almeda Holbrook, Lorlie Dawson, Faye Thompson, Faye Berger, Jean Butler, Nona Perkins Per-kins and Donna Christensen. Prizes were won by Mrs. Dawson, Daw-son, Mrs. Berger and Mrs. Christensen. Chris-tensen. At midnight Mrs. Skillicorn served tasty refreshments. ft THE AUXILIARY to the V F W will be hosts at a card party and bazaar in the Catholic Church, Monday, Nov.. 29th. A number of lovely articles suitable suit-able for Christmas gifts will be for sale. Card games will furnish fur-nish the evening's entertainment entertain-ment and home made mince meat pie and coffee will be served. The committee includes Mrs. Dora Smithson, Mrs. Lucile Rains, Mrs. Bernice Stewart and Mrs. Susan Murdock. ft MRS. TONI UFFENS entertained enter-tained the Gabridgettes Wednesday Wednes-day evening. Luncheon was served at 8, followed by four tables of bridge. Prizes were won by Maudell Crane, Dorothy Kizer and Dorothy Morris. Other members present were Phyllis Keetch, Rae Anderson, Mable Westergard and a guest, Nelda Memmott. ft THE CHURCH Bazaar given at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, Nov. 11th, was enjoyed by youngsters as well as the older people. Most of the articles in the fish pond were gifts from the Dominican Sisters at a convent con-vent in Calaho, Calif. Many articles ar-ticles were also donated by the citizens of Milf ord.. Father Valine Va-line and the members of the church wish to thank the people of Milford for their splendid support. sup-port. Committees were: Foods and stationary booth, Mrs. Owen R. Smith, Mrs. Albert Berntsen, Mrs. Don Weisner and Mrs. Jerry Memmott; fancy work, Mrs. William Wil-liam DeWolfp and Mrs. S. E. Edwards and Mrs. A. F. McGinn; Pitchforth; fish pond, Mrs. Cecil Mary Williams were hostesses to the ladies. Bridge was played, with Ethel Nielsen, and Ethel Smith winning prizes. One table of Monte Carlo whist also was played. The Thanksgiving motif was carried out. Refreshments were served to Jean Hickman, Noma Bradshaw, Nina Bingham, Edna Baker, Ethel Nielsen, Ethel Smith, La Priel Banks, Naomi Hughes, Anna Mae Hickman, Magdalena White, Jessie Frazier, Vera Bond and the hostesses. ft TUESDAY EVENING at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Longacre, the Women's Foreign Missionary Society of the Church of the Nazarene held their monthly meeting. Members present were Mr. and Mrs. Fogelsanger, Mrs. Janet Walker, Mrs. Nonie Walker, Mrs. Vel O'Rear and Mrs. Alice Peckham. After the business session, a farewell gift was presented pre-sented to Mrs. O'Rear, who has left for her home in Texas. She was the secretary of the organization. THE THURSDAY NIGHT bridge club was entertained by Mrs. J. R. Murdock, Nov. 11th. The following ladies were present: pres-ent: Mrs. Sam Cline, Mrs. E. L. Outzen, Mrs. George Moore, Mrs. J. M. Hughes, Mrs. E. L. Smith, Mrs. Selar Hutchings, and Mrs. Raymond McGill. At bridge, Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Cline and Mrs. Hutchings received re-ceived the prizes. A dessert course was served by Mrs. Murdock Mur-dock before the game of cards. |
