Show Thai's Up afi Fa Wert? Park West is making final preparations before slipping into its fifth season as one of Utah's major ski resort areas. Extensive grooming and widening of runs, a soon-to-be-constructed sunning area, and a brand new space-age sound system in the main lodge are among the resort's main improvements for the 1972-73 season. Run crews spent the summer widening and finishing many of the area's 30 miles of beginner, intermediate and advanced runs. Substantially widened or reworked runs included Geronimo, Bad Hombre, Ricochet and Maverick. Maverick ridge was also recontoured with heavy equipment to improve its snow-hold capabilities. Construction will soon start on a new sun deck at the Lookout Look-out House. A full-range quadrophonic sterio sound system within the resort's main lodge is also in the offing. Park West will continue its NASTAR racing program and has implemented the Buddy Werner-United States Ski Association Associa-tion co-sponsored ski instruction program for youngsters. The program is the "little league" of skiing and is among the nations finest and most economical for youngsters from 7 to 13. Park West's Director of Safety and Marketing, Dick Frost was recently re-cently named National Chairman of the Buddy Werner Leagues. Park West is the only area to offer the program in the Intermoun-tain Intermoun-tain Division. Veteran ski school director Bob Autry will be supervising the area's crew of instructors who will be utilizing the GLM (Graduated Length Method)-instruction technique. On-the-spot video taping equipment will enable skiers to view instant replays of themselves in action. He has also coached the University of Utah team for several seasons. Park West has it's same ski patrol back consisting of 46 part-time part-time and 8 full time members. The Patrol's combined experience ex-perience amounts to a hefty 375 years and has one of the highest rates of nationally appointed memberships of all participating ski areas. Park West pass rates will be held at the same levels as last year $6 for an all-day, all-lifts adult pass being the standard. All-lift season passes for Summit County students are $60. Standard adult all-lift passes are available for $80. Family passes are also available at reduced prices.
