Show SUSC Debate Team captures Laurels thought of as an "easy mark" in the past in really big tournaments; but that as he looks at the talent and dedication of his squad this year, he feels that this will no longer be the case. Smith, emerged victorious at a "Kail Scrimmage" at University of 1 ;h September Sep-tember 2!i and :5() About 2li I'niversities throughout the Western United States competed in the prestigious meet including in-cluding HYU, University of Mexico, Fullerton, California, and University of I't.'ih A super squad effort bv the SUSC debators put all 4 debate teams in finalist positions, Finalists were Jan Merrill and Lisa Kay. Third place semi-finalists were John Peterson and Chris Kereceman. Quarter-finalists were Vicki Green and Howard Davis and in the Sr. Division Frank Misak and Craig LeDuc. Mr. Smith indicated that this is the first time SUSC has ever had all four teams place in a major tournament. tour-nament. The 8 member squad plus 6 individual entrants will leave Friday for a major tournament at Mesa College in Grand Junction, Colo, where it is expected that they will do well for themselves them-selves and SUSC.
