"Pippin," the story of the Kmperor Charlemagne's youngest son, will be presented by the Pioneer State Theater Foundation October 14 at Souths, .i Utah State College. "We are very pleased to have 'Pippin' performed for Cedar City theater lovers," H. Scott' Phillips, SUSC theater promotional coordinator, coor-dinator, said. "Two other Pioneer State Theater Foundation productions, 'Sleuth.' and Molier's 'The Misanthrope,' have been presented at SUSC and both have been real crowd pleasers." The Foundation was formed in 1973 to bring professional theater to the people of Utah. Curtain-time for the traveling production will be at 8:15 p.m. in the SUSC auditorium. Tickets for the one time performance will be sold at the SUSC box office beginning Friday, from 1-5 p.m. weekdays, and from 1 p.m. until curtain-time curtain-time Oclob October 14. POPULAR PRODUCTION. The SUSC Theatre Season will get under way October 14 with the presentation of the popular production ot "Pippin," Pictured are, left to right, Lori Lynn Zabriskie, Kevin Harris and Maria Tirabassi. Tickets for "Pippin" are $3 if purchased before Od-tober Od-tober 14 and $3.50 if purchased pur-chased on the day of the performance. Admission for the professional production is included in the price of SUSC seasonal theater tickets. These season tickets sell for $9 and include, in addition to "Pippin," admittance to five other major campus-community campus-community productions at SUSC. These passes are available at the box office and will also be available the evening of the performance. SUSC faculty and staff members can purchase tickets for $4.50 each, a 50 percent savings over the regular price, Phillips said. "'Pippin' is a show that will appeal to all ages, especially to high school and college age students. Students must pay an ad mission cost because the play isn't a SUSC production, produc-tion, but with their activity cards, they can save $1 on ticket prices," he said. Snow College is the host for "Pippin". Each year a different college or university in the state acts as the host for the professional production and sets are constructed, rehearsals held, and the opening show held at that school. TV and film actor Jon Buffington, San Francisco, will paly the title role. Other professional actors-all former students at the University of Utah-are Elaine Vetterli-Brown, Charan Levitan, Anne Rowe and Michael Rudd. Cameron Christison, whose father teaches theater at Snow College, will play Theo, the young boy. Other members of the cast are from Utah colleges and from across the country. |
