Condolences may be sent to the family through Metcalf’s website at <www. metcalfmortuary.com> Brent Harris Ward Brent Harris Ward (62) passed away November 14, 2007 in Phoenix, Arizona after an extended battle with a degenerative brain disorder that robbed him of the active life he so thoroughly enjoyed. Born in Ogden, Brent Ward Utah on December 26, 1944, Brent attended Ogden secondary schools, Ben Lomond High School, and Weber College. He went on to graduate from the University of Utah with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1970. That same year, Brent married Laurel Kunz and was the proud father to son David in 1972. Brent loved the outdoors and enjoyed water skiing, photography, sailing, and hiking and bicycling, especially with his family. An avid skier, Brent shined as a slalom racer on a very strong Weber College ski team in 1967. Following his passion for skiing, and under the tutelage of Earl Miller, Brent became a fully certified PSIA ski instructor at Snow Basin at the young age of 23. Many young people, including his son David, benefited from his thoughtful and patient instruction. He is survived by his mother Marjorie H. Ward, two brothers Doug and Kelly, sister Kathy Willis, son David, sister-in-law LaRee Ward, daughter-in-law Monica Ward, and grandchildren Simone and Nicholas Ward. As a member of a large family, Brent was a beloved uncle to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, all of whom will dearly remember his bright smile, gentle manner, and loving guidance. He was preceded in death by his father Charles E. Ward in 1995. Services were held Saturday, November 17, 2007 at Lindquist Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Interment, Lindquist Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah. Summary of Minutes of Huntsville Town Council Meeting Held October 16, 2007 • The Council approved a motion to set a public hearing date for 7:00 p.m. November 8, 2007 to consider public input on possible CDBG projects for 2008. • The Council approved a motion to change the council meeting from November 6 to November 8, due to the fact that the General Elections will fall on November 6. • The Council passed a motion to hold a work session October 23, at 6:00 p.m. starting at the S.W. corner of the park, to review the project bid and to make a decision on what to do in the ice rink area, and then meet at the town hall to continue the work session to review the funding of the RAMP grant and to review remaining ordinances. • The Council passed a motion that the council adopts a resolution of support for Utah Wingmen for Property Tax reform. UDOT Slates Public Open House for 12th Street Project in Ogden—Property and business owners invited to attend The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is continuing the planning and design process for the reconstruction of 12th Street in Ogden and is inviting property owners and business operators along the project corridor to learn about current status of the project by attending an informational meeting on Wednesday, November 28 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the UDOT Region One Office located at 166 West Southwell Street in Ogden. The meeting will include an update on the status of the project, description of planned improvements, anticipated schedule for planning, design and construction, and an opportunity for questions and answers regarding the project. Also under discussion will be construction phasing options and property access needs during construction. Project team members from UDOT and the consultant design team will be on hand to present information and address issues from attendees. Current project plans for 12th Street between I-15 and Washington Blvd. include pavement and sub-grade reconstruction, drainage improvements, installation of curb, gutter and sidewalk and construction of defined accesses and driveways for properties with uncontrolled access. In conjunction with the project, the cities of Ogden and Marriott-Slaterville are planning to integrate limited water and sewer system upgrades. The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) will add a new set of railroad tracks just east of the existing tracks to support the commuter rail transit line. The Union Pacific Railroad will improve the existing crossing and add safety medians on 12th Street at 1200 West and at the railroad crossing near “A” Avenue. Construction on the 12th Street project is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2008. More information is available on the project web page at <www.udot.utah. gov/go/12thstreet> Candlelight Ceremony for Deceased Children A special candlelight ceremony remembering babies and children who have died will be held Thursday, December 6 at 7:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd. in Ogden. The ceremony will be held at the ANGEL OF HOPE statue, which was made famous in the book “The Christmas Box” by Richard Paul Evans. A candlelight ceremony will be held at the conclusion of the program in remembrance of children who have died.
