Show A WOMAN IS 15 STRICKEN mm BY DEATH all biryl Vs 1 1 mrs amanda foutz an honored pioneer joins the great silent THajo majority rity another pioneer woman of richfield joined the silent majority on thursday night of this week mrs amanda guilds child foutz a much beloved woman was tho the one who answered to the last roll call she was horn born in ill athens county ohio march 6 1839 being a daughter of esbon ond mary hoskins childs her father died in T yie I 1 e spring of 1850 tile the following do dumn her mother sold the ohio nome and started by team for salt lake city spending the first winter in illinois with near relatives the succeeding spring they resumed their journey to the unknown west it requiring nine weeks to make the trip from illinois to kanesville Kanes ville now council bluffs iowa here they outfitted for the remainder of the journey gurncy with two yokes of oxen one yoke of cows and two wagons loaded with provisions sufficient for a year they reached salt lake in october 1851 here the subject of this sketch was joined in marriage to J L foutz of pleasant grove in 1857 in the fall of in company with her husband she came to richfield the the idding spring they were ft among the firs firotto tto settle at central from where because of the hostility of f indians they returned to richfield in in october 1877 they removed to arizona in 1805 she returned to richfield Rich Geld stopping to spend the winter with her son dr E A foutz in panguitch she was a pioneer woman of utah and ol of richfield and her entire life fia has s been an open portraying many acts of kindness and deeds 0 of worth mrs foutz is survived by two sons and four daughters viz joseph L jr and desband alonzo caroline A morrison mary delite anderson 11 margaret argaret nelson and catherine van pelt her husband and two sons son having preceded her to the other side bide ashe aslie leaves also numerous grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren the funeral services will be held in the second ward chapel tomorrow sunday at 2 |
