Show J.T.GARDNER AGAIN HEADS COUNTY BOARD 'eil Dahle of Spanish Fork Named to Fill Vacancy of Fred Matle" James T. Gardner of American Fork was chosen chairman of the hoard of county commissioners at tile regular meeting of the board Tuesday morning. Mr. Gardner has been chairman of tile board during the past four years. The naming of Mr. Gardner as chairman came immediately following follow-ing the appointment of Xeil Dahle, Spanish Fork merchant, to fill the vacancy in the hoard caused by the death of Fred Matley. Mr. Dahle's name was presented to the hoard by M'- -.t..r. who moved that Mr. Dahle be appointed to fill the unexpired term of Mr. Matley for the next four years. A. O. Smoot seconded the nomination nomi-nation after he had asked Mr. Dahle a question. "What will he your stand on the proposed Utah lake reclamation project, Mr. Dahle" inquired Mr. Smoot. "I am heartily in favor of the contemplated con-templated project and will do everything every-thing possible for its consummation," consumma-tion," replied Mr. Dalile. '"In that case," said Mr. Smoot. "I take great delight in seconding the nomination of -Mr. Dahle." The appointment was the unanimous unani-mous vote of the commission. Immediately following the completion com-pletion of the board, Mr. Dahle, as his first, official participation in the) proceedings of the commission, moved that Mr. Gardner be elected cliairnian of the 'man!, which also was approved by Mr. Smoot. Preceding the meeting of the commission,' com-mission,' F. H. Cellvent aud Milan K. Straw, representing the Kepubli-ran Kepubli-ran committee of Springville, objected ob-jected to -Mr. Gardner the manner in' which Mr.' Dahle had been selected select-ed to fill the vacancy. They contended con-tended that the Republican committees commit-tees of the entire south end of the county, including Springville and Pnyson, should have been consulted rather than to have the recommendation recom-mendation come from Spanish Fork alone. |
