Show t slaws will GUT LOOSE TOMORROW "Jamboree" Tonight Will Be Preliminary to Big Celebration. Peter Kasius, president of the student body at the University of Utah, called together all the men in the sophomore and freshman classes yesterday and organized or-ganized them for the purpose of carrying carry-ing wood up to the site of the big bonfire on the hillside which will be a part of the celebration tomorrow night- The men were separated into groups and leaders appointed for each group. The big tiger which was expected from Fort Collins has not yet arrived in Salt Lake, but it is expected before the game on Thanksgiving day. The tiger is twelve feet long. The Aggies used it as a charm in their contest with the Colorado Colo-rado Springs boys this year and apparently apparent-ly with great success. They are willing that the Utah eleven shall have the benefit bene-fit of any magical power It possesses. If the tiger arrives before tomorrow night it wiil probably be taken along in the parade. The U" men will hold a pep "jamboree" "jam-boree" tonight at the New-house hotel and. according to present Indications, a majority of the men on the hillside will attend. Coach Albert Brokmeyer of the freshman team has charge of the affair. af-fair. The "XT' squad held a hard scrimmage yesterday, with Coach N'orgren and Assistant As-sistant Coach Brokmeyer playing in the freshie back field. The varsity was adjudged ad-judged by the Colorado critics on the recent trip to Fort Collins as the strongest strong-est offensive team in the conference, but as somewhat weak on the defensive. The scrimmages during the past few days have been designed large ly to overcome this weakness. Another hard practice will be held this afternoon and probably a very light one tomorrow. All the varsity men have recovered from their injuries and the squad is in the beet condition of the entire season. A dry field is all that the Crimson men j are asking for. President John A. Widtsoe again took up his duties at the university yesterday, following his trip east, and the students have displayed a keen interest as to the attitude which he will take in regard to the big asphalt wagon which the students have placed on the raised part of the building, to one side of the stairs leading lead-ing to the administration building. The -students called the wagon their "rhariot of victory" and placed it in a conspicuous conspicu-ous place, in order that the strange contrast con-trast which It made with the building would impress on everyone the keen Interest In-terest which the students feel in the approaching ap-proaching battle. The dean's council requested re-quested that the students should take the wagon down and the students refused. ;on the ground that it was a monument to - the student spirit of the school. It is -reported that President Widteoe looks at ;the matter from the student standpoint. .In this case the wagon will not be re-; re-; moved until after Thanksgiving day. |
