Show 8 H. Flower Successful Festival The Sugar House Fall Flower Festival which ended Sunday was a very successful two day event, Mrs. V. R. Hutchins, chairman, reported. re-ported. Displayed in the newly remodeled remod-eled building at 1053 East 21st So., hundreds of colorful fall blooms, artistically exhibited, drew flower lovers from all parts of the city. "In spite of a poor year for flowers, the exhibits were beautiful, beau-tiful, the setting for the show was perfect, and the Utah Asso- ciated Garden Clubs and Sugar House chamber of commerce are well pleased with results and the support shown us," said Mrs. Hutchins. Among those receiving awards were Mrs. R. Z. Morris, 1970 Wilson, Wil-son, the cup for the artistic section. sec-tion. Horticulture cup was presented present-ed to Mrs. Howard Hausknecht. Tri-colors in artistic, Mrs. H. W. Brewer, 2127 South 22nd East; Mrs. R. V. Morris, Mrs. J. S. Wex-els. Wex-els. Tooele, and Helen Jensen. 1968 East 21st South. Ribbons in the horticulture tricolors tri-colors for mums were presented to Mrs. John H. Evans, 3071 South 27th East; Mrs. John Wexels, Tooele; Too-ele; Mrs. R. A. Hedquist, 1396 South 17th East; Roy Dunn, Tooele; Too-ele; Mrs. James Fenton, 2369 Evergreen; Ev-ergreen; Mrs. Howard Hausknecht. Mrs. M. L. (Bud) Brain, 3627 Canyon Way, received blue ribbon in tri-color for roses. Mrs. James Fenton won the award for asters. Special ribbons were presented in the junior section to Harris Vincent, 458 Emerson. Special ribbons in horticulture chrysanthemums were awarded to Mrs. H. J. Armyon, 2570 Lam-bourne; Lam-bourne; Mrs. Howard Housknecht; Mrs. James Fenton received two; Mrs. R. V. Morris, two; Mrs. Mildred Mil-dred Asay, 1363 Sherman; Roy Dunn, three; R. A. Hedquist, Mrs. John F. Wexels, Mrs. aul Murdock, 2346 Lambourne, and Mrs. John Evans, 3071 South 27th East Special in roses was awarded to Mrs. Brain. R. C. Sloan and Lynn Young received the ribbons for dahlias. Lucille Conger won a ribbon in the house plant division. Ribbons in artistic arrangements were received by Helen Jensen, Mrs. John C. Norman, 558 East 5600 So.; Blanche Whitlock, Pay-son; Pay-son; Mrs. J. F. Wexels, Tooele, Mrs. Jeff Ferre, 1215 Parkway; Mrs. R. V. Morris, two specials, and Mrs. H. W. Brewer, 2127 So. 22 East. This marks the second year for the annual show to be staged in Sugar House. |
