Show Saturday Set For Annual Gean-Up Saturday, April 9th, has been de- creed by the city council of Gunnison as Clean-up, Paint-up and Brush-up .day, and Mayor John S. Peterson, in another column in this issue, has proclaimed pro-claimed the date mentioned above for the annual war on filth, trash, rubbish rub-bish and anything that retards the bsauty, health and happiness of the populace. All loyal citizens are expected ex-pected to be busy next Saturday, with the idea of making the job a big success. suc-cess. Members of the city council, at the Saturday night meeting, voted unanimously unani-mously to lend every aid in caring for the trash that will be gathered from a long winter. One requirement is asked of the citizens and that is that every householder, when cleaning yards or lots, place the trash and cans and materials to be hauled away in some container, and place at a convenient point on the street. Trucks and wagons will gather all the refuse that is properly placed in containers. The materials left scattered on the ground, however, will be left and property pro-perty owners will be forced to dispose of it at their own cost. There will be plenty of conveyances to care for all the trash and if all will cooperate it will greatly facilitate in making Gunnison Gun-nison the "city beautiful" in a short time. In years gone by, Gunnison has steadily maintained a healthy and clean city. The record for 1932 should be as that of former years. Make the job a thorough one and don't forget the places where the deadly fly breeds. Manure piles, unclean outside toilets, rubbish piles, tin cans, are ideal places for the breeding of flies, and if particular par-ticular stress is given to these filthy places, better health, more happiness and contentment will follow. Everybody out Saturday, April 9th. with rake, forks and shovels make Gunnison the city to be proud of. '. |
