Show Senator Asks Changes In U. S. Sugar Act Extension of the Sugar Act in its present form, without any amendment, would be "rewarding "reward-ing Cuba's Fidel Castro for bad behavior," Senator Wallace F. Bennett said here this week. Senator Bennett, a leading spokesman in the Senate for the domestic beet sugar industry, urging giving President Eisenhower Eisen-hower authority to cut Cuba's sugar quota "when, as and if necessary for reasons of the nation's na-tion's security." Addressing the 11th general meeting of the American Society of Sugar Beet Technologists, he called for a four year extension of the Sugar Act, up for renewal by Congress this session. |
