Show World War I Vets Welcome Leader National Commander Charles A. McCarthy of the Veterans of World War I of the U.S.A., Inc., and Ninth Regional Commander Willis E. Bowling of Denver, Colo., arrived at the Salt Lake Municipal airport Thursday. A large reception committee of World War I veterans and auxiliary auxil-iary aides greeted the incoming commanders. The purpose of this visit by the National and Regional commanders com-manders was to organize the "Department of Utah." There are well over 2,042 baracks in the nation, with many new barracks being organized and chartered each month. Utah is the last state in the union to be set up as a department. Utah now has five barracks, one each at Salt Lake iCty, Logan, Lo-gan, Ogden, Midvale and Eph-raim Eph-raim with several new barracks now being organized in the state. |
