Show 21 Hilltop July 23. 1998 Sports Falcons place 4th in AFMC tourney Hill by Jennifer Edmonds Hilltop Times staff Bobby Saenz gave up skin for the Hill Falcons softball team, during the 1998 Air Force Materiel Command Men's Softat Eglin ball Tournament held July AFB, Fla. "He was our lead at bat and he was struggling initially so we put him at the end of the line. Then he was doing fantastic so we moved him up to third and he finished 6 for 7." According to their statistics, Thad Noe-th- e and Steve Harvey didn't do too bad at bat either. Noethe hit 13 home runs and had a batting average of .700 and Harvey scored three home runs and walked away with a batting average of .733. Those scores are truly outstanding just incredible!" The Hill Falcon's moved up a place in the AFMC Men's Softball Tournament this year, when they finished in fourth place with eight wins, four losses. The Hill Falcon's were in fifth place in 1996 and 1997. Eglin AFB seized first place in the AFMC softball tournament for the third year in a row; McClellan AFB, Calif., captured AFB. Ohio second; Wright-Patterso- n landed in third; and Kirtland AFB, N.M.. came in fifth. Despite Hill's enthusiasm during the tournament, the games ranged from one extreme to another.
