Show New Organization To Assist Communities, Names Head Central Utah Rural Impact Capital Corporation (CURIC) board of directors has hired Jerrol L. Syme to serve as executive director of the corporation. CURIC Is a newly-formed, non-profit organization whose goal is to provide technical assistance and innovative financial tools to cities, towns and counties of the six county area of Utah. Syme, 32, is a native of Moroni. He received a BS degree in geography and political science from Utah State University and is completing a master's degree in business administration from the University of Utah. He is married and has four children. Syme leaves his job as city administrator of Roosevelt to work for CURIC. Prior to the Roosevelt job he was the senior planner for the Uintah Basin Association of Governments. He was also a voting member of the Uintah Basin Economic Development District. Syme Is now a captain in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. While on active duty from 1971-1973 he served as deputy commander of the Missile Launch Control Center at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana. include providing problem-solving consultant services to communities In the areas of financial management, capital improvements planning, general administration and general planning. CURIC will also provide grantsmanship services to interested units of local government. The other principal goal of CURIC is to cut bonding costs for cities and counties by combining several small bond issues into a more marketable large bond issue that will bear less interest and smaller administrative fees. |
