Show X-Ray Technologist Training Program To Begin in Region As a result of the critical need which exists in southern Utah for registered radiologic (x-ray) technologists, Weber 'State College has obtained a mandate from the State Board of Regents to educate these technologists at the college level. In the Interest of the public need, Weber State College has made ap-plciation for major affiliation with Garfield Memorial Hospital in Panguitch to begin educating students in the profession of radiologic technology, Weber State College has chosen Garfield Memorial Hospital because it wants to train students who Intend to stay in the southern Utah area upon completion of their educational activities. By performing the major portion of the student's educational activities in the area, there will be an Increased likelihood that the students will remain in the southern Utah area to practice their profession. Although Garfield Memorial Hospital is small in size, it has a well-equipped radiology department which will provide a high quality clinical experience for the students. Commenting upon the quality of the X-Ray Department at GMH, Dr. William L. Ellingson, radiologist with Sevier Valley Hospital, Richfield, said, "There is no question that the technical quality of the X-Ray films taken In Garfield Memorial Hospital is excellent. In fact, in my opinion it Is now and has been consistently the best of any department In the state regardless of size or locality. This has been so since the opening of the new hospital in 1975. How exciting it is to know that high quality work can be found In small, rural medical institutions that patients can receive first rate care wherever there are talented, dedicated health professionals." |
