San Rafael and Canyon View Junior High Schools held ceremonies for ninth grade students who had successfully finished junior high and were ready to make the big leap to high school next year. Students were recognized for their efforts throughout junior high and their parents were thanked for the support they gave them to become successful students and prepare them for the challenges ahead. COURT REPORTER Appearing in Seventh District Court before Judge Douglas B. Thomas on May 20 were: Sonya Buck. Buck was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a third degree felony. She pled guilty to the charge on May 20. A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing is scheduled for July 15. Jodie Lavon Ashby. Ashby faced an amended misdemeanor charge of Simple Assault, which the defendant pled guilty to on May 20. Sentencing is scheduled for July 15. Jonathon Boyd Burton. Burton is charged is a misdemeanor charge of Abandoned Fire Damage. In his initial appearance he was advised of the charges and penalties and was appointed David M. Allred to represent him. Arraignment is scheduled for June 3. Travis James Sweat. Sweat faces misdemeanor charges of Attempted Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance and Attempted Illegal Possession/Use of a Controlled Substance. He pled guilty to both charges on May 20. A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 19. Daniel Wesley Runyan. Runyan faced amended misdemeanor charges of Illegal Possession/Use of a Controlled Substance and Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, which he had pled guilty to in October of 2007. In sentencing proceedings he was sentenced to a suspended one year jail term, fined $1,625, and placed on 18 months probation. Roy Young. Young faces felony charges of Aggrvated Robbery; Theft by Receiving Stolen Property; Failure to Stop/Respond at Command of Police; and Theft; and misdemeanor charges of False Personal Information to Police; Interfering with a Legal Arrest; and Possession of more than 1 ounce of Marijuana. Young pled not guilty to all charges. A pretrial conference is scheduled for June 3. Tito Homer Whiterock. Whiterock faced misdemeanor charges of Criminal Mischief and Intoxication, which he pled guilty to in December of 2007. In an order to show cause hearing the court was informed that the defendant is currently serving a jail sentence out of Emery County Justice Court. The defendant was provided a copy of the affidavit and the court read the allegations to the defendant. Whiterock was appointed David M. Allred to represent him and the order to show cause was continued until June 3. Gerald Andrae Washington. Washington faces felony charges of Failure to Stop/Respond at Command of Police and Damage to Jails and misdemeanor charges of Obstruction of Justice and Attempted Unawful Acquisition/Possession/Transfer-Card. Washington pled guilty to the charges on March 18. In sentencing proceedings the defendant was sentenced to an indeterminate term of not to exceed five years in the Utah State Prison. Brittlee Nicole Ward. Ward faces an amended misdemeanor charge of Attempted Criminal Trespass of Dwelling. Ward pled no contest to the charge on May 20 and waived time for sentencing. She was sentenced to a six month suspended jail term, fined $587 and placed on one year probation. A review hearing is scheduled for May of 2009. Martin Thomas Youngblood. Youngblood faces a misdemeanor charge of Reckless Driving – Alcohol/Drug Related. He pled guilty to the charge on May 20 and waived time for sentencing. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 178 days suspended, fined $1,500 and placed on one year probation. A review hearing is scheduled for May of 2009. Melissa Leeray Randall. Randall faces a felony charge of Illegal Possession/Use of a Controlled Substance. Arraignment is scheduled for June 17. Warren Michale Jurgensen. Jurgensen faces felony charges of Illegal Possession/Use of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Personal Possession/Purchase/Transportation of a Handgun; and misdemeanor charges of Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Open Container/Drinking Alcohol in Vehicle. He pled not guilty to all charges. In his initial appearance he was advised of the charges and penalties and he waived a preliminary hearing. Trial setting is scheduled for June 3. Denise Marie Heaps. Heaps faces two felony charges of Possession of a Drug Precursor. In arraignment proceedings she waived a preliminary hearing and was bound over for trial. Arraignment is scheduled for June 17. Zachary James Tuttle. Tuttle faced an amended felony charge of Attempted Burglary, which he pled guilty to in March. The case was continued upon motion of defense counsel. Sentencing is scheduled for June 17. Ricky Arnold Ruttenbur. Ruttenbur faces a misdemeanor charge of Illegal Possession/Use of a Controlled Substance, which he pled guilty to on May 20. Sentencing is scheduled for July 15. Fred Thomas Lujan. Lujan faces two felony charges of Child Kidnapping and two felony charges of Aggravated Sex Abuse of a Child. In his initial appearance he was advised of the charges and penalties and appointed David M. Allred to represent him. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 4. Christa V. Gasser. Gasser was scheduled to appear before the court regarding a September 2007 plea in abeyance to a misdemeanor charge of Issuing Bad Check/ Draft/Presumption. The court was informed that another notice had been sent to the defendant requiring her appearance. Based upon her failure to appear, a bench warrant for her arrest was set with bail set for $2,000. Faculty and Staff at San Rafael JR High Notice to the Citizens of Emery County The Emery County Board of Commissioners is seeking applications to fill an unexpired term on the Planning Commission. Any registered/qualified voter interested in fulfilling this term and serving on this board may obtain a form at the Clerk/Auditor’s office during regular business hours. The volunteer form will need to be returned to the Clerk/Auditor’s office, P.O. Box 907, Castle Dale, Utah 84513 by June 10, 2008 at the close of business. Citizen involvement is the basis of good county government. Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs, which he entered a plea in abeyance agreement on May 20. A review hearing is scheduled for May of 2009. Ricky Lee Armstrong. Armstrong faces felony charges of Illegal Possession/ Use of a Controlled Substance and Purchase/Possession of a Dangerous Weapon; and misdemeanor charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription and Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 17. Conrad Hilton. Hilton faced misdemeanor charges of Attempted Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance; Possession of a Controlled Substance; and Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He pled guilty to all charges. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 16. Kim Lee Rollins. Rollins faces a misdemeanor charge of Issuing Bad Check/Draft/ Presumption. Continued Arraignment is scheduled for June 17. Carl Clayton Thompson. Thompson faces an amended misdemeanor charge of Attempted Aggravated Assault, which he pled no contest to in September of 2007. A restitution hearing is scheduled for June 17.
