The new metal is said to have a "compressive yield strength" of 67,008 pounds ; per square inch, twice that of structural steel, and 50 per cent greater than the present alloyed aluminum now used fa aircraft construction. The tensile strength is also very high. Experts say that "75-S" will be especially well adapted to long range bombers and fighters. |
