Show and was employed as a stenographer steno-grapher in the War Department at Washington, D.C. Sergeant Olswang obtained her training at Hunter College, N. and was on duty at Cherry Point, N. Utah, Marines of the Fourth Division Di-vision who are taking part in the invasion of this island are: Corporal's J. R. Brown, 359 West 5th South; John A. Woolf, 824 Ashton avenue; Privates First Class Tyndale L. Lloyd, 29 South State street; Emile M. Jorgenson, 357 Wesmer Coul"t; Jack Davis, 144 South 5th street; Donald B. Grainger, 150 North Main street, and Robert Wheadon, 358 West 6th South. Corporal Brown was 1941 all-city all-city high school baseball, football foot-ball star in Salt Lake City. SARA RUTH MARTIN Women Marine Private First Class Sara Ruth Martin, of Salt Lake, has been tranfered from Camp Elliott, Sau Diego, Cal., to Camp Pendleton, near Ocean-side, Ocean-side, California. She is on duty there in the Post Exchange. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Kelsey, 7085 South 8th East, and a graduate of the East High. She also attended the University -of Utah .where was a dietitio major. She is the former Miss Sara Ruth Kelsey. The local Marine enlisted in May, 1943. Prior to that time she was employed in the library at the University of Utah. m WITH THE MARINES ORSON M. CHIDESTER A Salt Lake City Marine, Private Pri-vate First Class Orson M. Chides-ter, Chides-ter, whose wife, Glodys, resides t 1819 Garfield avenue, is now 'mdergoing combat training with-the with-the Fifth Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, California. .-llflI'J HELEN L. HOK VNSON Private Helen L. Hokanson, Salt Lake member of the Marine Corps Women s Reserve, is on duty at the Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, N. C. She is the daughter of Gustaf A. Hokanson of 760 9th avenue. Private Hokanson attended Brigh am Young University. She recently completed six weeks "boot training" at Camp Lejeune, N. C, training center for all worn en Marines. BLANCH F. OLSWANG A third chevron has been added to the uniform worm by Blanche F. Olswang of Salt Lake City, for she recently was promoted to a sergeant in the Marine Corps Women's Reserve while on duty as an stenographer in the Public Works Department at the Marine Corps Air Station, El Centro, Cal. She is the daughter of Mrs. Gertrude Olswang of 333 Garfield avenue, she was graduated from the University of Ctah in 1929, |
