Show Music Lovers Greet Welsh Gleemen A crowded house greeted the Royal. Welsh Gleemen at the concert in this city. Friday night of last week and never1 in the history of Gunnison have the music lovers enjoyed a. high-1 high-1 er class entertainment. Every number ' on the program was given the heart-I heart-I iest applause and the artists respond--' ! ed with equally pleasing numbers. There are' fourteen members compris-ing compris-ing the concert troupe . and every I member proved himself an artist in his particular work. The solos, the ! choruses and the piano work were all , of the highest type and not in one instance in-stance was the "jazz" in evidence. W. D. Lloyd, basso soloist,, made a deep impression in his: rendiction of "The Inchcape Bell" and other selections. selec-tions. T. Davis, soloist, and Herbert Tree, also won the hearts of the audience aud-ience by clever work. In the chorus' wo;rk and the singing by the choir, highly interesting numbers were given giv-en and Dr. Joseph Bowen can be justly proud of his aggregation of artists. The Royal Welsh Gleemen - were brought here through the efforts of Leo D. Bardsley, principal of the Gunnison Valley high school and. with the aid of the students and the moral support of the citizens of the city and valley, the concert proved not only educational, but the patronage was far beyond the expectations of all. The members of the choir went from here to Richfield, playing at the latter lat-ter place Saturday evening to a crowded house. Sunday they filled an engagement at Salina. The itinerary mapped out will take the singers to the northwest and later to coast points. |
