Show I 1 BLANDING thursday march 25 in the ward hall a gathering of fathers nd sons the he largest group of its kind ever got ten together in blanding met and enjoyed a real banquet and a good snappy program prepared for the encouragement of scouting the banquet was planned over a month ago to be held in the san juan high school building but when that building burned do down vii it necessitated a great deal more work il planning janning 1 and I 1 scheming to get the whole thing again in line to go ahead stoves were borro borrowed Ned from families the church tables were carried can f I 1 in town moved into the basement of the grade school and the relief society I 1 building benches and wood carried to our cookery and the thing was under way A complete check up was made 0 of F the families in town and then each family wai was asi assessed essed according to api their ability fo t i cream butter blatter pe peas iii elc a nath vari I 1 sous ious things that go to constitute a I 1 good feed I 1 i i people were very generous and co operative in the whole thing and I 1 I 1 the food was either there on time or its equivalent in cash I 1 j tiie the meal was cooked by two of the mothers ethers Bl and served by sisters of the scouts those these were seated at one I 1 large table and there were vete seventeen ethers who dined later I 1 it has ion long been our desire to do something to further the scout move ment in the and to interest the fathers of the boys in the reaction to the effort and the success of this banquet and program we a are re sure we have struck the right coi cord d we believe that one is interested more quickly and lastingly in a t thing if hr he contributes to it the fathers in this case were contributing directly to this affair by their contributions in the foods that were furnished for the occasion and the small email admission charge for each one As Sec scouting representatives of the blanding Blandi rg troop w we not only rec amend this procedure to the other ti troops oops of ih c district as a a means of interesting the fathers of thu the boys but by it we raised our apportionment of the district a assessment ss estment for the utah national council at this meeting a scout trip was proposed for this summer and tile the idea was wa hailed as a 91 giat at plan by the entire group and they all agreed to use their influence and support to make it a real success flom this humble beginning we are arc sure that some good will come find and that it if this get ge together is follo followed ved up consistently that it will bo be one of the greatest factors in the promotion of scouting this county has ever experienced |
